Flashing Android M10 FHD
-
Dear UBporters,
as my M10 Ubuntu Edition was stolen last month I now got my Android M10 that I want to put on Ubuntu Touch of course.
I was about to follow the Install using system-image server from here but then I read here under Switch from Android to Ubuntu that I'd first have to flash official Ubuntu Touch Edition onto the device.
Now before I'd brick my device I just wanted to confirm whether this step is necessary prior to flash my Android M10 with the UBports image. Thanks!

@polylux I don't know the answer but I reposted your question in the Telegram Supergroup. Just waiting for someone to answer it.
The Telegram Supergroup is a perfect combination of information and shenanigans. You should subscribe if you aren't already.

Thanks alot advocatux! Will figure out how to join Telegram groups.
-
@polylux the Telegram phone app doesn't work for supergroups. You'll need to use the desktop application https://desktop.telegram.org/ or the web application https://web.telegram.org/

As a betatester of the FHD M10 UT, I had to flash it once. This was quite easy and did not brick it. I plan to install UBports on it after my vacation (end of August).

@guru Thanks, so I have to flash it with the original bq version beforehand. Thing is, when I want to download it from the bq site it tells me my serial is not valid. Hence I don't get any file to download.

@polylux, read this thread https://forums.ubports.com/topic/263/can-t-get-the-m10-fhd-to-take-the-flash specially this post: jamesp Jun 25, 2017, 11:35 PM

@advocatux Got it, thanks! Provides a serial, that'll help me further.
-
@polylux good luck!
-
Step one successful, my M10 is now booting the bq ubuntu image.
-
I have had the same problem that my serial was not accepted. A look into the page source helped to see how the test locally in the browser was done with Javascript and how to trick it
-
@guru oh yes the download URL is there in plain text o_O
-
Second step, flashing ubports was an easy task. Transition completed.

@advocatux said in Flashing Android M10 FHD:

maybe, but I used one of the numbers of the JS and keyed it in

@guru we can adapt the old proverb and say All roads lead to Rom XD
