I really want Ubuntu Touch to be updated on the I9300 as support ended for it when Ubports took over and most of the download links for required stuff are down

Sorry to say but unless you find someone to work on a new port, or port it yourself, ther is little chance thats going to happen. The Samsung S3 has a superold kernel, we currently expect a device to be in the range of 3.4 -3.10 as a minimum (depending a bit on the quality of the kernel itself). The S3 ahs kernel 3.0 and it will be PITA to reverse-patch all the stuff thats needed, beginning with apparmor, but not limited to that (Bluetooth is also a big pain here). Also with 1GB of RAM your experience will be very poor.

Keep in mind that the early port for the S3 was from a very very early version of Ubuntu Touch. The OS has evolved in the meantime, using more CPU, RAM and with a totally different boot concept (flipped version).

Finally, each device is a major burden for the porter, I have myself a bunch of unfinished devices on the table, and even if you supply the porter with a device its probably not much of a motivation.

We cannot and will not support devices that we think have no benefit in the ration between labour for maintenance and support vs. user benefits, and also in terms of how many people own such a device, and how many can get one. While S3 is still very popular, there are much better supported devices now, and we are aiming to get Android-9 support ready. Our mission is to sustain older devices but also bring in ones that users can actually buy in a store as new.

Here's the available / work in progress device list currently supported by Ubuntu Touch:

          https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/

Samsung I9300 seems to not be available yet.
If you want to try porting yourself, you'll find a full documentation here:

I only need an old version for the installer. Also, if so, how was I able to get android 10 on it?

@KirbyTheStar Our installer does not support this "old version" you are referring to. We donΒ΄t know what version that is, but since we took over the project from Canonical there was no version nowhere for the S3. It must have been pre-2015 or so...

So we also cannot just add this to the installer. Sorry to say!

Having an Android 10 version for your device is a good thing, however, as I said before, someone needs to actually port this Android version to Ubuntu Touch. So unless someone invests a considerable amount of time, this wont happen by itself.

That would not have been of much help to you either. By the time Canonical discontinued the project your phone was also no longer supported.

Never seen it neither and i follow uTouch since Ubuntu One was anounced for crowdfounding, and later have got my MX4 when it came out.
Anyway it will not be ubported unless owner of one decide and have skills to.
