Space bar/key in search
-
Good day Folks.
I have just got a Nexus 5 with Ubuntu Touch and for the life of me I can find how to enter a space in the search field of any application. What am I missing? -
@cliffcoggin
Can you be more specific about what you're doing, what search field or how can you say that you couldn't enter a space character ?
Everything I tried worked as expected. -
I am trying to enter a space between two words. How do you do it because I see no space key on the touch screen?
-
I found the answer. Use the key marked, in my case, English. I was pressing instead of tapping. Case solved.

The space bar is the large one at the bottom of the virtual keyboard the layout language is displayed on it.If you're not more specific it will be hard to help you.
Because as far as I know you might not know what a space bar is even if I don't think so.What app are you using ? Morph browser, contact app, messaging, ... ?
Are you able to enter spaces in a SMS ?Edit : Just saw your last post
Good to know -
@cliffcoggin Ahh... see, as someone who's been using Android for a while, I couldn't guess that that was where the problem was. But of course, it's not actually self-explanatory that the large bar with the word English on it is the space bar. Well done!

Hello Moem. Never having used a smartphone until now, some of the most basic functions are not obvious and there are no instructions. For example I had to ask somebody how to close applications. Left swipe to shrink, then up swipe to close is not something I would have discovered. I wonder how much more electrickery there is to find.

Yes, that one is rather... interesting, also for me as someone who has used a smartphone! UT is a lot more swipe-oriented than Android; Android as I know it generally uses three buttons below the actual screen, for Settings, Home and Back. I find myself trying to use those three buttins and they're not there! Learning new stuff is fun, though, isn't it.

Today's discoverys:
- a brief menu menu revealed by swiping down from the very top edge,
- the rubber edged case I bought prevents swiping from any edge. Damn. I'll have to get something else.
- I like the look of Pure Maps, particularly the alternate map layers.
I am slowly being drawn into the 21st century, though I have asked to be shot if I ever venture into Twitface.

I think, un UTTT, you can adjust the swipe area. Maybe it helps.
