I just got a nexus 5 with ubuntu touch. It connects to wifi but no internet.

I don't plan on using this as a phone. So sim card is not needed. I'm just going to use phone as a hand held computer and link it to my desktop Ubuntu machine.

Here is another topic with similar problem, I hope it will give some idea of what could be wrong.

I also have a Nexus 5. On the stable channel and also on RC, I don't have any problem with wifi (at least nothing a reboot won't fix).

It can be a problem of compatibility with your wifi router, so check that your phone is seen by the router.
Or sadly it can be the hardware failing (I just had a similar issue with a raspberry pi).

@AppLee I think your right on compatibility Issues. I just got back from the city and it was picking up wifi everywhere and stop at a place to eat and was able to use their internet.

So the problem has to be with my router. So I'm going to look into that.

                    Thanks for the help

@DaveNotHere Certain 'N' class routers have a chip that has an incomplete implementation of the network standard that leads to older devices not being able to connect. There are many posts and open tickets about it on git. Check your router model number to see if it's in the list.

No solution for it except get another router, last I saw.
