I have UBPorts Ubuntu Touch Edge running on a Poco F1 for a few months and almost everything has been working fine, and I am considering buying something like a PinePhone. However, one thing that seems to be missing is an option to set the mobile hotspot (i.e. creating a Wi-Fi hotspot using mobile data) to the 5 GHz band. Is that a Halium/libhybris issue or is that missing in Ubuntu Touch? If the latter, is there an unofficial way to force it to use 5 GHz (i.e. using the cli or by editing a file)?

@Vistaus You'll be dissappointed about Pinephone since it doesn't support 5GHz Wifi.

Thanks, but that was not my question... I need a 5 GHz hotspot now for work, but not in the future when I buy a PinePhone and have different connectivity.

Anyone? There's gotta be a solution for this, even if it's cli-based solution...

I'm not sure there are many users here with a Poco F1.
I don't even know if it can access both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, I guess you wouldn't ask if you cannot, but still I don't know.

Sorry. I'm sure if someone has some knowledge about it they'll let you know.

But that still doesn't answer my question if this functionality is supposed to be present or not, i.e. does Ubuntu Touch support 5 Ghz hotspots on other devices or not (and if not, is there a (cli) workaround)?

I never saw an option allowing it.
Maybe someone with deeper knowledge can answer this, but I doubt many people thought about it. 🤔
