Based on the discussion here: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5047/can-ota-15-be-the-final-release-including-oxide/3 I thought it would be cool too have a thread similar to the "most wanted app", but for browser features.

One thing I am really missing on UT is syncing of bookmarks. I understand that Firefox sync is unlikely to come to Morph, but I have been looking into alternatives anyways.

Really cool would be build in support for Nextcloud bookmarks:
          https://github.com/nextcloud/bookmarks

It comes with a build in API and clients / browser extensions for most platforms.

UT also already has a app: https://open-store.io/app/umarks.ernesst
But it is barely maintained and not very convenient to use in combination with Morph.

However I am guessing that it would be easy to add a Javascript app within Morph to sync bookmarks? This could be a good starting point: https://github.com/damko/freedommarks-browser-webextension
(Together with UT Account integration for Nextcloud).

Yeah, but those look like they would require substantial changes and some of it might not be feasible on libhybrid based devices at all.

Thus lets keep it realistic and let the Morph devs look into those bigger issues, which I am sure they already did.

@poVoq I really do think Morph is great, there isn't much more I would ask of it.

First big thing I can think of is the ability to directly open a local html file - the lack of this seems like a strange omission to me.
Support for web based video/audio chat would also be high on my list.
Ability to load a Widevine plugin would be nice too, for support of DRM protected major video streaming sites like Netflix and Hulu.

                    Best regards,

@TotalSonic you can do that. To load sample.html from your Downloads directory put this in your browser address bar:

                      file:///home/phablet/Downloads/sample.html

@Giiba - sure that works, but if you place an html file into a subfolder inside your Documents folder and try to open it via its local url it doesn't (just tested this). ALSO - again, that is not a direct gui based method of opening the file - what I am asking for is a gui based method with an "Open" command within Morph's options, which allows for browsing in the file manager prior to clicking it to have it open, rather than having to know and type the local file's url.

                        Best regards,

Support for a dedicated Reading List would be awesome!

Privacy and security settings were great (e.g. cookie blocking, script blocking, tracker blocking).

@poVoq Brave has total sync over all platforms and is chrome-based. Comes with dark-mode, ad-blocker, fingerprinting protection and much more. Unfortunately is not officialy suported by Cannonical in their app store, but the build for Ubuntu from the Brave site is super. Not a Firefox browser fan...
So, if a browser could do what Brave does, I'm more than happy!

For me, some appreciated features would be:

                                    • option to move adress bar to the bottom of the screen
                                    • quick toggle (in burger menu) for desktop mode for one tab only
                                    • option to swipe address bar to change tab left or right

In other words I'm really quite happy already, more than anything just keep up the great work!

Edit: Another thing I realized I miss is a forced dark mode - basically a way to force white text on black background for all web sites. Opera for Android has it and I loved it. Not exactly top priority stuff though.

At this stage, many pull requests https://github.com/ubports/morph-browser/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Apr are waiting to be merged that will improve morph-browser.
It's not forbidden to dream for still other features, but one must be aware that even this work of control and merging, by those who are in charge of it, takes a lot of time. If already some of what is pending is incorporated into OTA-14, that will be good!

It won't as OTA-14 is already frozen, but maybe for OTA-15?

Btw, what I really miss from Morph is trackers blocker.

As OTA-14 is in a freeze, I made beta build of Morph browser with yet unmerged features. You can install with

                                          sudo ubports-qa install PR_morph-browser_401

@danqo6 Crashes immediately after splash screen on my 6p - might be related to the fact that I'm running Qt 5.12.

                                            Love the new icon though!

Yes, for Qt 5.12 it doesn't work, it needs to be built for that separately, I am not sure how to do that.
