Facebook messenger on Ubports ?
-
Hi, sorry, I'm trying to have discussion with messenger. But I don't have messenger with the web browser and desktop mode , and with the app Fmessenger, I can login but not read or type caracter for my friend, because bad design accessibility. I'm on nexus 5 with OTA-14.
And maybe I can't make video call with this phone on facebook.
No problem, but I'm trying some popular solution on android for this ubports.

@mito77 There's no native app but like what you already used, it's only available using the web version. There are a couple of them like Sailbook and Pesbuk. Pesbuk supports using the desktop version of facebook so you can also use the desktop version of messenger there. However, it's a heavy site so the experience may not be good and also it isn't really designed for narrow screens yet. Blame facebook for that

I doubt that it is relevant to your problem, but the Nexus 5 should be on OTA-15 by now. Mine updated a month ago.

@mito77 the only option Ive activly used, was fluffychat, but you have to set up your own server, and Facebook forces me to login again and change my password because of "Suspisious activity"

@mito77 - the "Sailbook" webapp available in the Open Store at https://open-store.io/app/sailbook.sailbook allows you to easily send and receive on Facebook Messenger. Sometimes because of Facebooks recent change to their layout you can get a bad display of the Messenger page due to scaling errors, but generally reloading the page or webapp fixes this.

Messenger in Sailbook/the mobile web page stopped working completely for me recently. Just not available anywhere.
The only solution I've found is to use Pesbook, set it to zoom out a little, use the desktop interface, and open messenger from the menu.
It's not smooth and I've had some keyboard issues. Notifications are of course out of the question. But I can talk to people, so I guess that's something...

I would really love to have some bridge to Telegram or Matrix. If somebody has not too complicated solution, please let us know.

I was able today to setup matterbridge.
I get working built-in whats-up plugin, and for messenger fbridge-asyncio
Both I am bridging to Telegram. Maybe I could write tutorial sometimes about that. -
@danqo6 Maybe you could make a simplified tutorial for fb messanger, but I madfe a somewhat verbose tutorial which mentions how to get fb working through matrix using a linode server.
