Hello
I've tried to install UbTouch on my Redmi Note 7 Lavender with 2 method, but no way ....
First, with this link :
I'm block when I want to flash the ROM (DL from the post).
The error is : my phone is not a Note 7 Lavnder !!!
I've tried twice, but again ... no way !
Second method with this link :
It's a little better. .. but Ko !
I've tried with the windows 10 soft installation.
At the end of the process installatiion, my phone reboot, I see the logo Lineage with the orange color, and my note 7 reboot again, I see the logo Redmi and black screen, and Redmi, and black screen. ...
Somebody, could give me some advice ?
Thanks
Smoky
I found it easier to do the manual installation via recovery.
You need this:
Hallium-boot e DTBO:
https://build.lolinet.com/file/halium/lavender/The last GSI di ubport:
https://build.lolinet.com/file/halium/GSI/The lineageOS vendor.img(needs to be extracted) :
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=10763459528675594236Procedure:
Format (As for any android rom).
flash vendor.img in the vendor partition
flash hallium-boot.img in the boot partition
flash dtbo.img in the dtbo partition
flash the GSI in system partition.
Reboot. - https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-gsi-ubports-how-to-flash-ubuntu-touch-gsi-in-redmi-note-7-7s.4131725/

Hello
With your solution I can install UbTouch, validate my PIN code, but then it asks me for a password associated with the RNote7 login, to unlock the phone.
This login corresponds to the name I had entered before, but without putting a password!
What is the default password?
Did I make a mistake?Thanks
Smoky -
@smoky i think when you have a default password to enter after install, it's "phablet".
-
@keneda Hello Keneda
Thanks, it's Ok with this pwd
I continue my discovery of UbTouch -
@smoky
Don't forget to change this password for one of yours (maybe a pin instead) ^^ -
I think this thread can be closed.
Thank you all.
SmokyPs: I have more questions ... in another thread!
-
Hi @smoky
You can "ask a question" then "mark the question as solved" from the cog wheel menu near the blue reply button at the top of the page.
If you can't, just tells me and I'll do it for you. -
@stanwood may I jump in that topic here please. I downloaded the LineageOS zip from the webpage the installer opened for me. After download I wanted to continue the installation but it terminated with "error checksum different".
Seems I hava a wrong img?Downloaded another LineageOS.zip from a "mirror", same problem.
I do NOT have to unzip this file first, do I?What is wrong here?
-
@kajan If I well remember you first have to extract the Lineage zip file and put the vendor.img in your home folder. Then UBports installer will ask you to enter the path of the vendor.img location.
-
@stanwood Thanks, I will try that.
-
@stanwood Okay, that was a phantastic hint - thanks a lot!
Installation passed so far, UBportsInstaller downloaded some additional files (14) successfully. But now the device stucks with "Redmi" Logo since approx 10mins.
UBportsinstaller says "Waiting for device..." and "Adb is scanning for devices"I will reboot manually now.
-
@stanwood CanΒ΄t boot the device anymore. It always stucks with Redmi Logo. ThatΒ΄s bad. Need a coffee now ...
-
@kajan Was your device on Android 9? Cause if it's on Android 10 it won't work. You first need to downgrade to Android 9. Be sure that you have ADB and fastboot packages installed on your PC.
Then restart your device in fastboot mode and start installation again. Enable bootstrap partition and wipe data if it's the first installation. -
Uh, I wanted to leave the thread open for Kajan, and while re-reading the posts, I was wondering about ubports_GSI_installer : will it continue to evolve for the RN7 ?
I know it's a lot of work for you, and you're counting on our feedback, but I'm just curious about that.
-
@smoky I think that GSI images are not supported by UBports OTA updates.
I guess also that the porter will first improve the portage in the "standard" version.
So I don't know for which reasons to prefer the GSI image for Redmi Note 7 yet (?) -
I had the same situation with ubports-installer. It turned my Redmi Note 7 into a brick. I had to flash through fastboot TWRP and through it flash GSI v10, which I found on the net. I want to transfer to OTA with preserved settings, I have many things not working on the non-updated version of the libraries from August 2020.
-
@markatrafik I guess the only way is to (re) run the UBports installer, (or flash it manually). It worked for me.
Well follow the instructions of the installer should be fine.
However, I'm not sure you can keep your data while you'll get a new UT image.... -

@markatrafik I guess the only way is to (re) run the UBports installer
Tried to restart phone/installation process several times, on many different computers, usb 2.0, usb 3.0, I turned on developer mode, downloaded and gave him Vendor.img as he asked, then it did not ask, pressed buttons as he asked, but without errors he was able to flash only through fastboot, the result is the same - a brick. phone: International unlocked version, Android 9, 6 ram, 64 int. flash, 128 microsd, 1 sim. I don't know why it doesn't work, maybe Debian 9 + snapd are poorly tested!
-
@markatrafik Weird indeed. Ask @Xray2000 , he knows how to flash RN7 manually. Probably a small detail was wrong.
Did you installed adb + fastboot packages on your Debian distro? (it's needed with UBports installer) -
@stanwood Yes...
Of course! I even made sysmlinks in /usr/local/bin as some people advised, included the user in several groups, e.g. dialout, all dependencies, adb and fastboot work, I flashed TWRP with this fastboot - fine, tried it from root as well, in short, provided it with everything ubports-installer needed, tried also the version that works via snapd according to these instructions:
https://snapcraft.io/install/ubports-installer/debian
and the ubuntu version with cross-installation of all the necessary packages:
ubports-installer_0.8.7-beta_linux_amd64.deb
The result is the same for all of them - a brick.P.S. The installer finds the phone, identifies it as Lavender, does something fun with it... It downloads a lot of files it needs, flashes it, sends it to reboot and - bricked. I wait 15 minutes and nothing loads, maybe I should have waited a hour, it do somthing?
But it seems to me that every minute the "watchdog" was triggered and the phone rebooted, but I can't say for sure.
