Installation UbTouch Ko

@stanwood Can´t boot the device anymore. It always stucks with Redmi Logo. That´s bad. Need a coffee now ...
-
@kajan Was your device on Android 9? Cause if it's on Android 10 it won't work. You first need to downgrade to Android 9. Be sure that you have ADB and fastboot packages installed on your PC.
Then restart your device in fastboot mode and start installation again. Enable bootstrap partition and wipe data if it's the first installation. -
Uh, I wanted to leave the thread open for Kajan, and while re-reading the posts, I was wondering about ubports_GSI_installer : will it continue to evolve for the RN7 ?
I know it's a lot of work for you, and you're counting on our feedback, but I'm just curious about that.
-
@smoky I think that GSI images are not supported by UBports OTA updates.
I guess also that the porter will first improve the portage in the "standard" version.
So I don't know for which reasons to prefer the GSI image for Redmi Note 7 yet (?) -
I had the same situation with ubports-installer. It turned my Redmi Note 7 into a brick. I had to flash through fastboot TWRP and through it flash GSI v10, which I found on the net. I want to transfer to OTA with preserved settings, I have many things not working on the non-updated version of the libraries from August 2020.
-
@markatrafik I guess the only way is to (re) run the UBports installer, (or flash it manually). It worked for me.
Well follow the instructions of the installer should be fine.
However, I'm not sure you can keep your data while you'll get a new UT image.... -

Tried to restart phone/installation process several times, on many different computers, usb 2.0, usb 3.0, I turned on developer mode, downloaded and gave him Vendor.img as he asked, then it did not ask, pressed buttons as he asked, but without errors he was able to flash only through fastboot, the result is the same - a brick. phone: International unlocked version, Android 9, 6 ram, 64 int. flash, 128 microsd, 1 sim. I don't know why it doesn't work, maybe Debian 9 + snapd are poorly tested!
-
@markatrafik Weird indeed. Ask @Xray2000 , he knows how to flash RN7 manually. Probably a small detail was wrong.
Did you installed adb + fastboot packages on your Debian distro? (it's needed with UBports installer) -
@stanwood Yes...
Of course! I even made sysmlinks in /usr/local/bin as some people advised, included the user in several groups, e.g. dialout, all dependencies, adb and fastboot work, I flashed TWRP with this fastboot - fine, tried it from root as well, in short, provided it with everything ubports-installer needed, tried also the version that works via snapd according to these instructions:
https://snapcraft.io/install/ubports-installer/debian
and the ubuntu version with cross-installation of all the necessary packages:
ubports-installer_0.8.7-beta_linux_amd64.deb
The result is the same for all of them - a brick.P.S. The installer finds the phone, identifies it as Lavender, does something fun with it... It downloads a lot of files it needs, flashes it, sends it to reboot and - bricked. I wait 15 minutes and nothing loads, maybe I should have waited a hour, it do somthing?
But it seems to me that every minute the "watchdog" was triggered and the phone rebooted, but I can't say for sure. -
So, my phone bricked yesterday during installing, and stuck on boot screen. Is it repairable, mendable? or should I drop it to the recycle bin?
-
@magic
If on boot screen, not bricked.
In fact it is quite impossible to brick device with trying installing uTouch.As i do not own this device i can't help you with installing, but no, do not bin it, you'll get help here, don't be afraid ^^

Adb is scanning for device.
L'appareil est bloqué sur la page d'ammorçage d'Android. En maintenant power et son- il boot sur Fastboot mais impossible de l'éteindre.
Que faire ? L'un d'entre vous a-t-il une solution ? -

As a french speaker myself, I just did translate your message in English as follows:
*Hello, I also tried to install UBports on a xiaomi redmi note 7. It was under android 10 unfortunately... (I saw too late that it had to be downgraded to Android 9)
I did manage to unlock it and the installation program under ubuntu 20.04 seemed to run normally. But suddenly it gets stuck on the error message: "Waiting for device... Adb is scanning for device".
The device is stuck on the Android boot page. Now, when I try to turn it back on by holding the "power" and "volume +" keys it starts in Fastboot mode, and moreover it is impossible to turn it off.
What can I do? Do any of you have a solution?*
-
As you well explain in your message, I strongly suggest you to downgrade your version to Android 9, and then try again.
-
@stanwood Thanks, but how do you reflash android 9 now that everything seems stuck?
-
@jmla I think the installation of ubport could be good if i can install ADB 1.0.41on ubuntu 20.04. But i don't find link for it.
-
@jmla I had android 10, the Ubports installer took care of everything, it downloaded the android 9 image and then installed ubuntu touch, important is that you don't have encrypted data, you would have to format it.
Regards...

@josele13 hi, i managed to unbrick my redmi note 7 via test point mode, which requires rear window removal and MiFlash in authorized mode. that is done !
Now, I installed android 9 but after 2 attempts to install ubport, it still hangs on Waiting for device Adb is scanning for device.
However, the smartphone is in developer mode, OEM unlocked, USB debugging enabled and allowing USB downloads. I checked the unlock with miflash_unlock.
The PC is under ubuntu 20.04.
Does somebody have an idea ? -
@magic
hello, did you manage to get your phone back? Otherwise I can give you the procedure under windows 10.
