Hi fellow Brothers and Sisters in mind !

Did anyone of you buy the Convergence edition with the adapter ?

Can someone tell me anything about it? Perfomance, usability?

Is a UBport planned for it?

        Thanks for your help !

          Hi @chim

All PinePhone share the same port of Ubuntu Touch.
So it should be similar to other packs.

The convergence edition adds 1GB of RAM and the adapter IIRC. So you'll have more RAM to run legacy apps using Libertine.

@chim There is not actually a "convergence edition". All the Pinephones are exactly the same hardware, with two versions for Ram (2GB and 3GB), and for internal storage (16GB and 32GB). There was a small hardware problem in the Braveheart and UBports Community Edition that makes the HDMI output over the USB C port faulty, thus not allowing to export to an external screen (what you call "convergence" which is actually something different, that is changing form factor when exporting the screen). This can be solved either by soldering something in the board or by changing the main board, since Pine is selling the 3GB board separately. I did this with my Braveheart edition and it was not hard at all.

@wgarcia said in PinePhone Convergence Edition:

There actually a convergence edition package, including the 3GB/32GB with a dock to make easier convergence ^^

@keneda As far as I can tell the dock is just a USB hub with USB-C and Ethernet input and USB A and C plus HDMI output.
What I mean but "there is no convergence edition" is that the Pinephone hardware is not fundamentally different.

And also for me "convergence" is not just HDMI output.

@keneda Yes, a lot of people call convergence just that, agree.

@chim Exactly the same as with any other Pinephone. The usability does not depend on the hardware, which is as I said basically the same (only difference is more RAM and internal storage) but not on the progress of the operating system.
