@stanwood I would like to add , the phone works very well,

        • the bluetooth only works in the music app and webapps,
        • the GPS as in all devices, takes about 30 seconds to connect at the beginning but then during the day it locates you very fast,
        • the photos in vertical position come out landscape, you have to correct them on the PC, I have found the way to correct the image from the Note 7, after taking the picture vertically, go to edit photo, click on change the clarity of the photo, ...., modify a little and then save the image, now you have the image vertically, I have put the steps in the image below.
        • The video freezes, HDR too.
        • Hotspot works.... follow steps.... .... https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6203/hotspot-issue

        regards...

          Hi, everybody.
Thanks to developpers for the good job.
I just set my Redmi Note 7 under Ubuntu Touch.
          Feel good BUT :
GPS not working ! command test_gps said :
          "gps interface not found :("
I used the UBPorts installer on Windows 10.
Maybe should I do it again under Linux Mint ???
I made a system update through "Development channel" but nothing new ! As I can see.
Any idea of how to solve this ?
          Have a good day.

@nico38 The gps in Ut usually takes 30 seconds to 1 minute to find your position the first time, after that it does it soon.
Turn on the gps and restart the phone, this is the way to force it to work, then leave it always on, it will only work if an app asks it to.

Thanks a lot for your fast answer.
I'll try to re-install on Linux and let you know.

I already restarted the phone and GPS is on.
As no GPS interface is found, no app can get it !

                    Just reinstall from zero.
                    Same "gps interface not found".
Get the finger print that was laccking previously. Anyway its buggy.
Don't know what to do to get GPS active.

Maybe I will re install lineageos or flash a stock Rom to see if GPS is still working.

I installed lineageos 17.1 with open_Gapps pico (minimum).
                              The phone is quite reactive.
=>GPS OK on Sygic offline navigation app.
So I'm not sure I can find the energy for, once again, install UT.
I managed to swipe the system partition (!) and was unable to flash a stock rom. Too many "how to" on internet made me confused.
My phone is still alive, fortunately, and I think it's safer to keep it as it is now, with this light Android os.
                              Another time, I hope.
Thanks a lot for your help guys.
                              Long live to Ubunbtu Touch.

I installed UT on lavender via the installer. But a caller from Android hears an echo. Switched from stable to devel channel. UT was updated (version of yesterday), and also updated all apps. But still the same, echo for Android caller. I thought the echo problem was fixed. Can someone please confirm that there should be no echo. Should I reinstall UT? Or how can I fix this caller issue?

@wurst Well, I have no echo anymore since OTA-17.
                                    But you can try this:

                                    setprop persist.audio.fluence.voicecall false

Not sure if you have to make this after each boot (best is to try)

I tried both the devel channel, and the stable. Even reinstalled (without wiping the personal data) to OTA-18. Without success, the non-lavender caller has an echo.

btw, @stanwood, what do you mean, that you have "no echo anymore since OTA-17"? Did you also have an echo on the lavender?

@wurst I had some echo on OTA-16, but fix was released in OTA-17. So I confirm I have no more echo since then.

@stanwood may I bother you again:-) Did also the lavender caller hear an echo? Or both the lavender and non-lavender caller?
In my case (OTA-18) the lavender caller has no echo, the non-lavender caller hears himself. Also the mute microphone does not work on the lavender. Should I reinstall again, also with wiping the personal data? Or flash TWRP, make a factory reset including formating the data, and then perform the ubports installer again? How can I safe and restore the personal data (including the apps, their settings and storage data) on UT?
