Headphones and external speakers look like same output device?

Hi,
When I play audio and accidentally pull the headphones wire out, it keeps playing at the same volume, but from external speaker.
I think it's supposed to stop the audio or set different volume (the volume set for external speaker before inserting headphones), isn't it?.
Is that a bug, or I am doing something wrong?
Any config files or logs I should check?
Maybe I need to setup something like a sound server (like JACK)?
My device (jasmine_sprout) doesn't have a headphones input.Thanks for the reply

I think this is normal behavior.
There is only one volume setting, not different ones for the various output.
You can fill in a feature request, but I don't know how difficult it might be to implement such feature.
