How is the porting for this device going?
-
Hello to the whole community, I am new and I apologize in advance if I have the wrong section, I have this phone on my hands now stopped at android 7.1.1 and lineage Os 14.1 (7.1.2) wandering around the network I ran into your project porting to the bq, i thought it was time to equip the phone with something different from the usual so my question is this, how is the development going for this bq? it would be nice to see the phone with ubuntu brought forward and updated instead of the usual abandoned android. Thanks in advance for the answers and I apologize again if I got the wrong section.

Hi @matte0 and welcome,
If you got a BQ U Plus, there already is an existing port for it.
Sadly it's not available in the UBports installer so in order to get installation instructions, I suggest you read this thread:

Hi, thank you for the welcome, so I followed the link you put and I successfully installed ubuntu on the phone, a good job as an OS but not being finished yet I decided to wait for the final release because some things are missing that I need as the ability to record videos and take photos, and the hot spot among the main ones that interest me, I also noticed that the back and home buttons do not work maybe it must be like this and I'm used to using them on android we will see in the final release and only later i found this page https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/tenshi/ where it shows the progress of the release, great work for the developer. Congratulations again.

@matte0
I don't know what you mean by final release but this is a community effort.
So it depends on the time and will of volunteers ti improve things.
Sometimes devices are harder to port and some issue will remain.So I would get in touch with the developer and see if they are still working on it or if someone else (maybe you) has to step up and help with the remaining issues.

@matte0
Physicall butrons are not used on uTouch, except for the one on Meizu MX4 (and pro5 i believe) that was usable since canonical era, to open app launcher, and now app drawer too.They can be implemented by the devs of each device port, but that's not on priority list i believe.

@matte0 Thanks for your interest: unfortunately I (the porter) am not able to fix issue of camera/video alone. It depends on some standard package. On top of that, the other missing thing is MTD/RNDIS, as the ability to see storage from pc.
Apart from it, it is fully working, including anbox where you can install apk from android -
@applee I requested to include it a long time ago, considering it is
almost
fully working, but camera+video and MTD/RNDIS for configfs. The other minor issue is that if you plug the jack in to listen to the music, sound output is router to headset and speakers. -
Hi @guf
And thanks for the effort porting UT.To add the device to the installer you'll have to make config files for it.
https://github.com/ubports/installer-configs
If you have trouble doing so you can open an issue or ask here, I'm sure someone will be able to help you out. -
@applee Yep, I needed to create configuration patch to add
tenshi
into the installer-config version 2 and I already had committed to the backend administrators (1 month ago).
If you want to test them, I will provide it to you, but if the backend administrator has not yet prepared the infrastructure for tenshi, they won't be useful
