No device connecting after flashing Redmi Note 7
-
Hello and thanks for help in my case.
Since days I tried to install UT with ubPorts installer on my brand new Redmi Note 7 - After flash part of the installation, when the tool will reconnect to device, this does not work on all tries.what I did:
OS on PC/NB used: Linux Mint 19 / Windows Win 10
Linux with installed adb & fastboot
Windows the same & additional qualcomm USB driver
Version of installer: 0.8.8 (according to OS)
Preparings of the Redmi all done correct, unlock via MI account. The fixes I found in web & disconnecting/reconnecting the device did not work.
Whats happen: Even without UBPorts installer, the unlocked device is only recognized by the OSystems, if in fastboot mode. Leaving the fastboot mode will disconnect the device from both OSystems....
So there is something with the Xiaomi? Any solutions?
Thank you -
@smoozz I have moved your post to the device sub-forum

@smoozz It might be a stupid question but.... Did you try with another USB-C cable?
-
@lakotaubp Okeeee...thanks

@stanwood As I wrote, checked all what I could find, so yes, I did....

Could be a driver issue, does some "unknown device" appear in windows device manager when you plug your redmi?

As I wrote....Redmi is only recognized if with Android, or in fastboot mode. Soon as I leave fastboot mode (like after flash part of ubPorts installer) the device is not recognized at all...

Yes i red that, but as sometime nothings "pop up" on desktop, but, if you go in device manager, you see some unknown device there, and you didn't tell if checked in device manager, i asked you...Beside recognising is not the same as detecting.

OK guys, thanks for your suggestions. Finally I got Ubuntu Touch installed!
Unfortunately I'm not able to say what especially was the case.
What I did:
On my Linux Mint computer I removed everything regarding UBPorts installer.
On the deice I've additionally removed developper option "check for apps installed via USB for harming behave".
Then I installed UBPorts installer again (0.8.8) and started flashing again. After flashing I've had the same effect "Searching for device", but I saw for a short moment "Ubuntu" on the device screen....
So I unplugged the device abut it stuck on the screen "Redmi by Xiaomi unlocked" - so far the same as before.
Now I've made a manual reboot on the Redmi, and surprise, after the screen above, "Ubuntu" appeared and started.....
What's not nice:
The device starts now with "Redmi by Xiaomi unlocked" (ca 5 sec.) before ubuntu system starts.
Seems to me, that UBPorts installer just was not able to send reboot command to the device. After two days with Ubuntu Touch, I'm very satisfied. Got all what I've expected.
UBUNTU TOUCH ROCKS!
