Xperia X seems to need pretty fierce tapping
-
Hi all,
I'm moving into an Xperia X. It seems to run fine but I've noticed that it's sometimes not very responsive to tapping. This is an issue that comes and goes. Normal system apps can be quite hard to open. I really need to hammer the icon in order to get it to respond! Swiping, on the other hand, gives the normal results and feels like I'm used to on my OpO. If anything, it's more responsive, not less.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? -
@moem Yes, sometimes I have the same impression.
-
@nikfrager Bit of a bummer, it's otherwise such a nice device! Does it happen often?
Is there any way to make it go away when it happens? -
@moem hard to say for me. There is random issues that makes the app freeze and thus not responsive. Could it be the glass protrection for you ?
Or maybe you are used to wider screen and touch area bigger ? -

There isn't one on it.

Nahhh. Seven taps or more, on an icon to open an app? That's not normal.

@moem Cannot confirm this behaviour on my xperia x device. Mine is running quite smooth. Did you use the phone with android before flashing UT?

I did not, I received it already flashed.
-
@moem hmmm... maybe a hardware issue?
-
@messayisto It might be... it's odd that it's so inconsistent though.
-
I don't remember having issues with tapping buttons, icons, and such. I have it on the keyboard though. It miss taps especially when you try to type fast.
-
Try checking with the finger painting app, i got the same issue on one second hand and it was the screen which was defectuous in some areas...
-
@tera Thank you, will try that!
-
@tera Well, I tried it, and that does not seem to be the problem here. I can easily cover all of the screen in dots, by using gentle taps. And yet, at other times or in other apps, I almost want to reach for a hammer...
So weird! -
@moem,
yes same here, plus permanent loss of wifi after being out of reach of the signal. -
@moem hmm hope that it's not the battery failing and pressuring the display...
Will retry on a spare i kept here when i got time... -
@moem
Strange indeed.
It might be the RAM (I don't know how much RAM is available on the Xperia X), if the RAM is saturated at one point everything slow down until the memory is freed. I can be the case when many apps run at the same time (but I doubt it is the case for you...) -

You are correct, it's the same just after rebooting.

Well, whaddayaknow. I'm testing OTA21 and it definitely feels like this has improved!
Does anyone have the same impression?
