Is there a ubports discord server?
-
telegram is a bit out of date for me and I find it a bit annoying that I have to use my phone number to login to it and matrix is too hard to switch to
-
@amy - there is no support for Discord on Ubuntu Touch, in part due to Discord's hostility towards third party clients. If your device supports Waydroid you can possibly use the Android app, but I have not tested this.
.
Telegram is currently the best supported messaging service natively on UT via TELEports app, followed by Matrix via FluffyChat, Tox via Toxza, Signal via Axolotl, and XMPP via ConverseJS XMPP client.Best regards,

Even if i don't like discord (what a name for a "social media" ..., maybe i should try to launch "TrollLand"...) and try not using it, you can use it in a webbrowser, i did it few times with Firefox on PC (text and audio) , but don't know if it works in morph. -
@amy I don't like discord, it seems all what Discord Nitro offers, Telegram has it for free. And I use to send audio chats a lot. Discord can't. Not to mention that you can send 2 gb per message in telegram and I struggle a lot in discord. I feel like discord is more like a trend, is not very useful and lacks for a lot of things. One of those, native support.
I wish I could login to telegram with my username as in matrix, and you also have matrix that supports more features than discord. I have to use it because certain communities are there, not because I like it.

@keneda Mic should work on rc now. Shouldnt it? Discord WebApp might work well with some tweaks.

Theres a discord terminal app that works on Ubuntu Touch, but this isn't about using Discord on Ubuntu Touch, this is about support for platforms.
We used to bridge between Matrix, Telegram and I think another option, but we don't now, theres a few issues with bridging, such as messages being received much later than once sent, and theres a question of GDPR on the backs of UBports, it's also partially which way do we go?
We are a small community, and dividing ourselves in this kind of manner, to much will lead to issues with the ability to actually communicate, people will go to a dead discord group, and think the project is dead, because no one on the team uses discord as a means to communicate about the project, which isn't the case with Telegram and Matrix, and even so with Matrix, Telegram is the main place, and so Matrix chat is lackluster comparatively, I only see that being worse on the Discord side.

I didn't mean is there discord support for ubports, I am using the web app right now

Since the fact that Discord is pure spyware I think that is the best way to use it if you really have to for some reason!
I simply completely ignore it as a long time TeamSpeak addict because a bunch of us run our own TeamSpeak Server for about 10+ years now I think!

@nero355
Teamspeak is good, but Mumble is very well too, and is Open Source...
When we used to play on PC with friends, we dropped teamspeak when i discovered about Mumble, with no regrets. -
@keneda
True, but for some reason we decided not to do the same at the timeI did hear a lot of good things about it!
