The "change channel" part of Settings is extremely buggy (One plus One / halium-devel )
-
Hello. I had to switch back from halium-devel to stable because for some reason the new build of halium just made my contacts disappear. I figured they had not been erased for real, so switched to stable, and here they were. Now I'd like to go back to devel and good lord this is impossible. It's not the first time, and i'm also pretty sure I'm not the first one to meet this delicious bug, but selecting a channel whether does nothing, or freezes system settings, or does sth that is only accounted for after reboot... But after all these usual shennanigans, I still can't seem to get this halium build back. I believe there's a terminal command that would do that more reliably. What is it please ? Thanks !

Ok after some more crazy fiddling (the ubports installer wouldn't do anything for me, i managed to get to dev channel, from there the installer kinda recognized the phone, and successfully freezed it into what I assume is fastboot state - then I managed to hardware boot into recovery, and, what the hell, an update went into motion, and it was halium-devel) where I decided I am not gonna try to understand any of this, I'm finally back into halium-devel - and my contacts are out again. I guess it was all this branch's fault then. I hope an update fixes this near in the future. Does anybody with bacon on halium-devel also got her/his contacts deleted ?

also, clock app crashes on startup, and reinstalling all apps didn't fix it

bacon
I'm going to highlight this because it's the only place where you mention your device, and it might be useful to people who may be able to help if they know that you are using a Oneplus One.

@moem yep sorry i'll mention that asap. Btw i'm pretty sure something got messed up bad in the whole process

Can you be a little clearer? What happened exactly, and what did not?
I can't help, but others may be able to... and information is always useful. I have never had problems with reflashing an UT device. -
@emphrath There may have been a glich in Devel yesteday. I need my contacts today on a OP5 the contacts had vanished, no accounts showing. After installing the latest update in my case 563 all was back to normal. Didn't notice anything yesterday so the issue might have gone undetected by others too.
MIght be worth trying the update channels again as if it was noticed yesterdays devel might have been paused I suppose. Haven't ad time to check yet. -
@moem Well, sometimes the installer would not recognize the phone and I had to manually select it, manually go into fastboot or recovery (depending on the choice I made) but failing to write anything on the device since the installer was still looking for the device in fastboot mode. Sometimes on the other hand, I had error messages like this: - well now i can't get any message since the phone doesn't show on my computer. Sorry about that I guess

@lakotaubp Yes indeed. With the new update my contacts are back. Clock still crashes on startup though. Can you confirm this on your part ?
-
@emphrath WAs just going to ask in Q&A group and yes was an issue with yesterdays Devel. Not sure of details yet just noticed chat and thought best to let you know.
-
@emphrath Yes clock crashing on OP5
-
@lakotaubp ok, thanks for the answer
-
@moem By the way, the installer works as expected when working from stable branch; seems everything I reported here comes from this specific halium build. I won't mark topic as solved though, because the channel switcher does have issues.

@emphrath Fix being worked on and merged later on today.
-
@lakotaubp nice ^^
-
@emphrath Not yet still crashing and notes
-
@lakotaubp ah yes i hadn't noticed about notes ^^
