I just received my phone and am testing the features. I can pair the phone with my laptop (Linux Mint). If I try to send a file from the laptop to the phone there is an immediate error. The Log on the laptop says 'Forbidden'. Any ideas?

Also, how do I send a file from the phone to the laptop?

Try installing this app : https://open-store.io/app/ubtd.rubencarneiro (fork of deprecated other bt ft apps from openstore)

To share a file from your phone, put on bt, open file explorer app, go to the folder the file you want to share is in (from one of the 5 folders "videos, images, ..." etc), go to the file and swipe on it to the left, select the 3 linked dots to open content manager, then choose the BT app icon, file is now reachable from any onther bt device.

To receive a file on your phone, put on bt, open btft app touching the "bluetooth file transfer" icon (not the "bluetooth" one), now the app is telling you it's waiting for file to come so start the share on the device file is on.

@keneda I tested this fork a long time ago on the Volla (Halium 9) without success and I doubt it will work (maybe I'm wrong) even on the non-Halium 9.
Is it working for you ?

Thanks for the reply. Does this mean that file transfer with bluetooth is not possible out of the box?

Try file sharing from phone content manager without installing app, if you can choose BT then you win.

But i think app is mandatory for file tranfer to phone from device.

Edit : after testing you can't transfer any way without the app, but sadly arm64 version of the app isn't working, i believe because the app doesn't has enough privileges.

Untill i see this thread i had Ian L original app installed, and searching the store i found the updated/forked one, and installed it instead.

Blutooth file transfer worked before, and after seing your post i did some test, and nothing work now...

I installed back original app and it works again.

Now i wonder if the arm64 version has the good privileges, because Ian L one has unconfined access.

OK It seems that more work needs to be done with BT.

I successfully paired with my car but the name of the car is 'unknown' which is not very useful.

And, of course, the name of my phone is stuck at the default which can only be changed by writing to a file HELD IN READ ONLY MEMORY!

Could you investigate the issues with your fork ?
