        Hi.

It's always been hit or miss. Lately, it seems worse than ever. Today, I tried to record a simple video (<1 minute long) 3 times, all failed. On playback, it plays and then just stops. The worst part is that when recording, you have no idea if the video will be corrupt or not as there's no warning. It's so frustrating! I had hoped that after being out for a good few years, that issues on these older phones would be sorted out.

        😞

How can you trust that an app really won't send some company your location data, when you tell it not to? The only way you can trust a program not to do something it isn't supposed to do is if it is free software. ~ RMS

It is not about how long a device has had a UT port, it is how active it is being maintained.

@opolork Sorry for you, and it's true that it's very frustrating not being able to perform an action that seems basic. But the fairphone 2 being almost outdated, you will need a miracle for this bug to be resolved. Miracles happen but it will be better to think about investing in a more recent maintained model. And there is everything to gain from being able to follow the wave (of innovations).

@domubpkm Hi. I rarely record videos, so will stick with the FP2 for a while longer. The camera photos function works fine. I'm not a big user of smartphones - much prefer a Desktop PC with a keyboard & mouse. πŸ™‚

                      Hello @opolork
For info on my FP2 (with OTA-22), the video recording is working well, quality is good.

@aloys Hi. You may have the better camera module. There's 2 types. BTW, does the torch/flash work on your FP2?

@opolork, yes I have the last camera module (the one with 12MPix). And the torch/flash does not work.

@aloys Hmm. That's the same module as mine. I recall that the video recording was not as bad years ago.

@opolork not an expert but maybe an hardware problem? Or... did you tried to re-install UT doing "wipe-data"? (don't forget to backup before!

                                    I did a reinstall. See here: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/6897/issue-installing-ut-stable-over-old-ut-dev-installation-solved

Yes, perhaps that's the cause. πŸ€”

Hi. No, I meant I did a reinstall a while back. I've not changed anything. I will just use the video recording feature rarely. I don't want to reinstall everything just to fix that. πŸ™‚

Possibly. But I don't fancy having to reinstall loads of apps and tweak settings again.
