Link for Google stock ROMs. They shift about sometimes and my shortcut has to be reset!

I am sad to be leaving (my favorite mobile OS since webOS) . . . but the shutting down of 3g in the states has caught up to me.
          Thanks πŸ™‚

And I am back using Android . . . ugh . . . I am going to really miss UT . . . thanks again for guiding me through my return to Android, and the wonderful years I had with UT on my Nexus 4, Nexus5, and Pixel 2XL.

@laughwithoratme I thought the Nexus 5 and Pixel phones were 4G, or does voice not work on the 4G band?

Did you consider using linphone (SIP) that is a workeround to call even after 3g shutdown, with UT ?

@keneda Early morning, however I remember the SIP possible workaround. Dropping of the bands will happen where I am, but not soon - too costly for underfunded emergency services and other industry that use it. It may cost US companies, some Sheriffs departments are blowing through their fuel budget due to massive increases in fuel prices and changing equipment to work may cost too much in the financial year. No one discusses this, all we get is 5G is the new thing, must go to 5G (but not use Huawei equipment). My 5G android phone drops to 4G when on data!

@mrt10001 in short, every time you place a call on a 4G/LTE device, the modem will change back to 3G actually πŸ˜› since 4G was "data-only" technology.

Now, that means that if not supported by the software on the device, a call via LTE is not possible just so. Its more like a SIP call now, and needs heavy lifting in userspace. Before the modem did all of that on its own, now its just used as transparent data-only shoveler.

im trying to go back to android but

                      adb reboot bootloader

does not get the device into the bootloader. Have a Pixel2 XL taimen. Flashed ubuport using the official flashing tool.

                      What should I do? Thanks

@bitgandtter Try it manually i.e. Power the device off and press Power and Volume down together until it shows the bootloader. Here.

So . . . just to make things more interesting (and somewhat confusing) . . .

T-Mobile in the US has decided to leave it's 2G service up for now (although, it is my understanding that the 2G coverage area has been slowly shrinking and will eventually be shutdown).
I placed my SIM inside my Nexus 5 and was shocked that I could still make calls (which sent me to dive deeper and find out why).

At some point I will test how reliable using 2G for calls is (my guess is urban areas have somewhat reliable coverage, but rural coverage will be horrible [based on what I remember the service was like back in the day]).

I might even re-install UT on my Pixel 2XL (my daily driver).

                            Hi @laughwithoratme
Thanks for the update for our North American members.

A first step has been announced by Marius during the latest Q&A (#120) ; that's just a first step but it's encouraging.
No need to ping him, there will be a big announcement when something tangible will come.
