@ubuntoutou do you have another device you could run the wifi scanner on?

@ubuntoutou You can download the wifi scanner app from the playstore and check the channel on the device itself. Mine is in the 2.4 GHz range on channel 1.

@arubislander I have tried the WiFi scanner from the app store. It shows the name of the hotspot with the hexadecimal code in the format [XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX]. But the hotspot name is nowhere to be found on the list of WiFi access points on my PC.

@ubuntoutou OK, so your hotspot is not being broadcast at all it seems. What update channel are you on at the moment?

@arubislander I am on the stable channel with OTA-23. I fear that the problem has the same root as the one described in this old post of mine where it has been suggested that I might have deleted the EFS partition when I repartitioned the phone before installation. I had to repartition because I have the non-ubuntu edition of the Meizu Pro 5 with 4GB of RAM instead of 3GB.

@josele13 Yes thanks. I had actually already tried this to no avail.

@ubuntoutou If it didn't work, maybe reinstalling again from the ubuntu installer put a file that was corrupted and doesn't allow you to turn on the hotspot.

@josele13 Reinstalling Ubuntu Touch won't bring back the EFS partition which is a firmware from the manufacturer.
