Waydroid Clipboard Broken - Permanently
-
@domubpkm I don't know if everyone most of the people does, but I search, search a lot. Something very "funny" I found are some answers to some questions I have with 3 years in the forum not answered. I think that there are priorities for certain topics. I can understand why of course. So, don't worry I'll keep asking things and reviving old threads that shouldn't be unattended . . . yet

@connor In addition to that, I think that people here that are super technicall and just understad all in code is that. They need to understad us, non-very techy people, because people that know less than us, know even less . . . are the target market. The ones who might fill the project with donations and stuff.
just, if get into a solution, create a post in the forum and add Guide at the tittle of the post. Believe me, it's going to help us a lot, tech savvy people can check the post and add retro to the post. So we follow the steps that's it!
We just want to add our grain of sand to the castle, just let us guides to let us help or at least just follow the post steps. We love you guys, stay safe and eat your vegetables

@thousandtopics The best thing with old threads especially if they are long, is start a new thread and use the old one as a reference point. Saves a lot of scrolling.

@lakotaubp well, that works too

......my clipboard is also dead, using a Fairphone 3+, I have installed ubport and after that via the installer waydroid, why is the "Google" button in the upper right corner of the installer,
(does it start initiation withwaydroit init -s GAPPS
after installation????) when it doesn't work, I would have been better I havent pressed it, don't know what's now, maybe this is the issue, why the clipboard doesn't work?So what do I have to do now? Reinstall Ubuntu and Waydroid without GAPPS ???
Is the issue also present when you don't install the non Google version?
I had seen a fix via adb(https://webplover.com/blog/android-10-clipboard-solution/), but I can't find andy phone with
adb devices
in the terminal of UBports...
any solutions without reeinstalling the whole system?

@picrard You could try removing WayDroid with WayDroid helper then reinstalling following these instructions https://forums.ubports.com/topic/5907/open-ubuntu-touch-to-all-android-applications/115 try switching the screen off funcrion to never or a longer time while installing.

I managed to resolve my issue of the clipboard not working in Waydroid by simply installing an older image of Waydroid, I believe it was from May 2022. The clipboard worked again and I was able to install GApps again without any problems.
-
@connor could you please explain a little bit more, how you have fixed the issue, I have still this problem with the clipboard, have now installed waydroid a several time, but ->paste still doesn't work, it's frustrating....thank you
-
Installed Waydroid using Waydroid Helper for the first time on my Volla Phone X, and too noticed that clipboard does not work.
-
I've reported it upstream: https://github.com/waydroid/waydroid/issues/556
-
It seems that paste does not work even within Waydroid, i.e. if I copy from one Android app, I cannot paste to another Android app. There's no Paste, just Cut, Copy, ...
-
@picrard I uninstalled and reinstalled many times without success, I think that the problem lies with the Waydroid image itself, so reinstalling just re-added the problem each time. I have no idea if it has been fixed in the meantime.
What I did to fix it, and I have since used this to fix other Waydroid problems. Is simply download an older Waydroid image from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/waydroid/files/images/
You have to download both a system and a vendor image, I assume from the same date. I used one from May 2022. Make sure you have Waydroid installed, and then simply delete the existing images from the folder:
/var/lib/waydroid/images/
There should be a system.img and a vendor.img in there. Delete those and copy over the system.img and vendor.img you downloaded into that folder. You can use the command line or the File Manager to do that. Then just start Waydroid. All your setings and files in Waydroid should still be there.
