setting up a VoIP workaround for US users [question]
-
Can I set up VoIP calls on my phone if I am in the US or is UT completely unusable for phone calls?
I believe my provider TMobile supports VoIP but am unaware of the specifications required to get it working on my Ubuntu Touch Phone ( Pixel 3a XL ).

VOIP does not work on UT phones, and it is likely to be quite a long time before it does.

@cliffcoggin Ummm, not accurate. Linphone does work on UT, it's just experimental and not in the store.
Please join us in the UT group on Telegram (any of them, the welcome group will do and one us will see it).
Linphone and VoIP on UT is also discussed extensively here in the forum. Many of us are using VoIP to keep our phones working here in The States

@myrcy we have been working in the "North America Carrier Issues" Telegram group and have determined the best (well, only) way to have full service (calls in / out, mms in / out, mobile data) until UT supports VoLTE is to use 2G mode, which has not been shut down by T-Mobile yet.
