I tried the gmail application in the legacy ubuntu store but I found it quite useless.
I do not know if I installed the wrong one, but basic is the web page and to read the mail I have to zoom every time...

@Shea83 It has the gmail logo. I don't think i ever needed to zoom. It's not great, just good enough though. 🙂

Anything new on this front? I just moved my wife to a Nexus 5 and did a fresh install. With the legacy store gone that isn't an option. What is the current best way for her to get notifications from and read mail from gmail?

@dshimer Dekko 2 is quite usable not everthing is finished and polished but taking in account its alpha state it’s doing its job quite well. Never used gmail though ...I thought the whole point is getting away from google ...

@dshimer Dekko 2from the open app store. Set it up then when its working go into the app setteing and double check incoming and outgoing settings are correct or match those workingor on another device. I had to tweak my settings to get it working as I wanted. Have fun🙃

@elastic You mean Dekko 2 correct? I am playing with it. I'm just assuming that there must be a lot of people trying to read gmail and wondering what folks are finding as "best". The legacy app wasn't perfect but I found it useful and the notifications worked great.

@dshimer yes Dekko 2 - bloody text prediction 😉 what’s the point of it if you have to always check your text for typos not made by you, that doesn’t save you any time ...

j'ai créé l'application Gmail avec "créateur de webapp"et ça marche bien. En fait c'est un racourcie de la page internet, je n'ai pas de notification comme celle qu'il y avait sur l'ancienne version de Ubports.

I created the Gmail app with "webapp creator" and it works well. In fact it is a shortcut of the web page, I do not have a notification like the one that was on the old version of Ubports.
