Questions about audio/video streaming
-
Hello,
I've got two questions about streaming. My daily driver is currently a Volla Phone running Ubuntu Touch.
First topic: video streaming
I'd like to watch a live stream from a public tv station. That works for 2-3 minutes and then becomes extremeley laggy. I learned, this is due to real-time decoding done by the hardware, since there's no dedicated app and this is running within the browser.
Now I wonder if a more powerful device like the Fairphone 4 would be able to deliver a constant live stream?Second topic: audio streaming
I'd like to stream music to my car audio system or wireless ear buds. Is there a plan to realize this?Thank you!

Unfortunately, media streaming in the browser is not hardware accelerated, hence the sluggishness and/or battery drain/excessive heat. However, as far as I know it is now in focal so eventually you'll have it and hopefully it'll be better. Also, are you streaming in very high resolution? I've streamed live in a few occassions and it usually works fine.
As for audio, that is already possible to use bluetooth for this however compatibility greatly depends on your device and the device you want to connect to. There are plans to upgrade the bluetooth stack which will hopefully improve on this.

@kugiigi Thanks for that answer, that gives me hope. I must confess, I haven't tried streaming with lower resolution. Shame on me, that should've come up to me... I'll try that.
About bluetooth streaming: I tried several headsets and two different car audio systems but none worked. That made me think it's not possible, yet. I'll keep trying then... -
