        This topic is meant to support people trying to set up APN settings on UT devices in Canada. It mirrors the one set up for the USA

        ---UPDATE July 2024---

        Here are my current APN settings that get me data and MMS:

        Used For: Internet + MMS
        Name: Internet/MMS 2
        APN: sp.mb.com
        MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
        Proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca
        Proxy Port: 8799
        <User Name, Password ALL BLANK>

        OLD SETTINGS - do not work anymore, but kept in post just on caseit is useful to others.

        (https://forums.ubports.com/topic/8338/updated-usa-t-mobile-and-mvno-settings-for-a-fully-functional-ut-device?lang=en-After discussion with the folks responsible for that topic it was decided Canada needed a separate page since it appears our 3G and 2G shutdowns have much different timelines.

        Here are the APN settings that allow data and MMS on Public Mobile:
         ```
        Public Mobile
        Used For: Internet + MMS
        Name: Internet/MMS 2
        APN: sp.mb.com
        MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
        Proxy: 74.49.0.18
        Proxy Port: 80
        <User Name, Password ALL BLANK>
        ```
        NOTE: Cellular connection type works ONLY on the 2G/3G setting. Unlike in the USA it also appears that MMS can be sent and received with WIFI on as well.

        NOTE 2: Device these settings were tested on:
        * Pixel 3a running Focal

          To further aid those trying to get a setup working, for me on a Oneplus 5 (and later Oneplus 5T), a slightly different set of settings were what wound up working. I couldn't get functional MMS messaging until I made separate APN settings for MMS and for Internet, using different APN addresses.

          My settings for MMS alone are the same as above in rdl85's message, except Used For of course. For my Internet APN, after much searching I found "isp.mb.com", and that was what allowed me to have both functional MMS and Internet.

          Public Mobile

          Used for: Internet
          Name: Internet
          APN: isp.mb.com
          <User Name, Password ALL BLANK>

          Group texts don't work right for me, but I think that's more of a global issue. Though if they're working for you rdl85, I wanna hear about it. Broadcast messages work fine, but group messages wind up with missed messages both ways.

            Hi Rdl85,
            Just wondering if you got a message from Public Mobile instructing that you needed to update your APN settings. If so, have you had any luck with the new settings? (Proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca, Proxy Port: 8799). I had MMS working just fine with the old settings, but I cannot get it to work at all with the new settings. They say the old ones, what you'd posted above, will stop working as of Feb 14.

              @wally you are correct, your new settings are what I recently tried and they work. I never got a notice saying my APN setting would stop working in Feb. I am very curious to know how you get notices about this. Do I have to sign up for those sort of notifications somewhere? Apologies for how long I have been away from these forums...

                @rdl85 I was notified by email. Carrier can see what device you use, I guess? I think they only notified affected devices.
                My issue turned out to be device specific, not UT related. I use a Oneplus 5T, and the Telus network stopped supporting MMS on many older devices, mine included. Per Public Mobile forums, MMS wouldn't work with Android either on a Oneplus 5T, Iphone 5 and earlier, many other older Android phones.

                Freedom Mobile setup:
                Freedom has separate APNs for internet and MMS, which my phone seems to need for MMS and internet to function simultaneously.
                APNs loaded automatically on UT 20.04, so it all just worked right away. I had to do it manually on my device that still uses UT 16.04. Anyhow, it all works great, with standard lack of proper functionality of Group Messaging.

                In case needed:

                Internet
                APN: internet.freedommobile.ca

                MMS
                APN: mms.freedommobile.ca
                MMSC: http://mms.windmobile.ca
                Proxy: 74.115.197.70
                Proxy Port: 8080

                Note that Freedom uses other networks when outside their own coverage, with free roaming. UT has "Data Roaming" turned off by default. This must be switched on under Settings->Mobile for data to work outside the Freedom network.
