New user and first problem
-
Hi, I'm a new user of UBPorts. I have aquarius m10 fhd with android, and my desire is install ubuntu touch in my device. But when I use your program return this on my desktop "the device aquarius_m10_fhd is not supported" and on my tablet in bottom left display it appears "fastboot mode"
How do I solve? How can I install Ubuntu Touch? Before buying the tablet I had read that it was one of the few commercially supported.
Thank you

@xinyiman Hi and welcome to Ubports. You need to go to https://t.me/WelcomePlus they have all the info you will need. In short you need to flash the original Ubuntu touch first if you are on android, then you can install UBports Ubuntu touch. You will need the SP Flash tool and the Ubuntu touch .zip from the BQ website to get Ubuntu touch running.

@xinyiman as @Lakota has said, better go to the UB Welcome & Install group but just in case someone come to this thread (using a search engine) looking for an answer, see this Install UBports on legacy Android devices

Hello, thanks for the advice. I tried to follow the guide
https://docs.ubports.com/en/latest/userguide/install.html#install-on-legacy-android-devices
but the tablet after I pressed the downlowd button has been off for almost two hours. And the device flash program has no sign of progression. Ideas?

Ok, now i stop and restart flash program. But now return this error:

@xinyiman Hello again @xinyiman. This is way above my pay grade. I would suggest you try the welcome and install group at https://t.me/WelcomePlus they have a wide range of skills and knowledge on these issues. Also you will probably get an answer quicker there. Couple of very obvious things but have you tried different cables and are the usb port connections solid?, and did you run the whole process again from the start. Is the m10 fully charged. Are you using the latest version if sp flash tool.

Hi! Have exactly the same problem... I'm trying on a device I just bought, following the guide that @advocatux linked. I'm doing under Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and SP Flash Tool v5.1612.00.100 (the first version linked in the guide to download...). When I click on the Download button with the green arrow and then plug the device (switched off), the terminal window for SP Flash Tool shows this message:
Connecting to BROM... Scanning USB port... Search usb, timeout set as 3600000 ms add@/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.2/usb1/1-2 add@/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.2/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.0 add@/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.2/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.1 add@/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:12.2/usb1/1-2/1-2:1.1/tty/ttyACM0 vid is 0e8d device vid = 0e8d pid is 2000 device pid = 2000 com portName is: /dev/ttyACM0 Total wait time = -1527459611.000000 USB port is obtained. path name(/dev/ttyACM0), port name(/dev/ttyACM0) USB port detected: /dev/ttyACM0
But nothing more happens after that. I reported it in the Telegram group as suggested, but for now the only one user I could talk with does not know how to solve the issue (well he suggested me to try under a more recent version of Ubuntu and I will do it...).

@pepprim Also read through this artical
http://www.mibqyyo.com/en-articles/2015/09/16/ubuntu-android-installation-process-for-bq-aquaris-e4-5-and-e5/#/vanilla/discussion/embed/?vanilla_discussion_id=0
Its from the BQ support site so nothing to do with UBports but it may help, and just read everything through twice (at least ) before proceding.
It probably is better using a newer version of Ubuntu. -
Finally!!
Thanks a lot @Lakota! It seems that the problem was with modemmanager because removing it as indicated in the article you linked solved the problem.

@pepprim Glad it helped. Now onto the next stage UBports Ubuntu Touch, libertine containers, X apps have fun and enjoy your M10.
