Ubuntu Touch Q&A 143 Call for questions

@Bolly
I wear UBports hoodies if that is what you're referring to.
There is this one: https://ubports.com/en/shop/product/ubports-hoody-15?page=2#attr=1
And the other one with the zipper was gifted to the contributors present at the first UBports TouchDown in February, so this one is a very limited edition. -
Will there ever be a recycle bin implemented (right now there is no recycle bin)?
Will UT ever have the filesystem not readonly (I have had to make apps into snaps as workarounds to this)?

I don't think so, it's designed like that to enforce security for any user including Linux noobs (like me) and to make possible Over The Air updates.
However, advanced users, like you, still can make system r/w, but then, you'll have to deal manually with updates.
The read only file system is an old discussion here, you can find plenty of topics related to this, and way better explainations why it is that way and will stay like this, example.

@thedeafenguy it is as @Keneda has said. However, snap support is being worked on, and that opens up the opportunity to hugely expand both the number and categories of applications it is possible to install without having to break OTA updates on your device.

Is there a way to get if the screen is active in a shell script or something similar? I was thinking to set the CPU governor to powersave to reduce battery drain while idle.

Since Flutter makes it is possible to create Linux apps for desktop and that we sometimes need external apps for specific purposes.
Would it possible to make a flutter app that is compatible with ubports- in mobile mode (eventually as a Progressive Web App) and in desktop mode?
If not what are the obstacles to make it work ? ...
Is it purely something that would be on flutter team side to work on ...
or could someone "hacks" it with custom made plugins ?
If it is only on flutter team side ..
- Since "Canonical and Google worked together to enable Flutter on Linux" could someone at Canonical help to make the portability a possibility ?
PS: I don't know a lot about flutter nor on Ubuntu touch development so excuse me if the questions are silly and totally out of touch with reality
kind regards - in mobile mode (eventually as a Progressive Web App) and in desktop mode?

Can you say something about the VollaQuintus ?

Hi, in some recent Q&A, there was a mention about Focal working on FP2. I've checked OTA updates on the phone (I'm on rc), but there is no update to Focal. When is it planned to roll out? Thanks.

Could you explain some of the (planned?) repowerd changes? Especially those that deal with cpufreq? It sounds like a cool concept. But where do we configure this for devices? And what else might touch cpufreq settings (android init scripts, vendor-specific stuff...)?
-
I am using UT daily, but there is whole world that do not know about this system, is there some plan to propagate more the system? Like conferences / PR article to some bigger tech IT web / colaboration with software compaines that already have desktop app / ...
thanks
