Vibration is not working properly
-
Dear Friends,
Yesterday, when I was receiving a phone call. I have noticed that Vibration is not working properly only like a heart beat or haptic, when I have installed UT it was working on 16.04 version. After the upgrade I felt like vibration is very week and not functioning as it is suppose to be.
Several restarts, resetting and turning on and off, but nothing works.
Also when I put the device in silent. Nothing happen as well.
Any clue ??

@Salah
Maybe a hardware issue ? -
There are some vibrator issues on a few ports. For instance, vibrator does not work at all on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S Curtana on Ubuntu Touch.
However I did not hear anything like that for the Pixel 3a.I've heard there will be some changes that might fix vibration issues on some devices (which?) on next OTA-6 release.
Usually, on Android, when the phone is completely turned off, shortly after the charger is plugged in, you will hear a small vibration when it starts to charge. If this is so you can deduct it's not a hardware issue.

@stanwood Thanks for your reply and I hope on the next OTA-6 or later version, this issue will be fixed for all devices.
UT from my POV is a promising OS and deserves to be evolved and 100% functioning well similar to Android and IOS.

Hi @Salah
You posted your question in the Pixel 3a/3a XL sub-category, so I assume you're having issues with one of those model.
I have the Pixel 3a (non XL) and the vibration seems OK.
But to be honest I didn't use it with Xenial as I was waiting for 20.04 to go back to daily driving Ubuntu Touch since I let my Nexus 5 go...Also 16.04 to 20.04 was not just a system update but a whole new port as far as I can tell (I hope I get this right ).
When OTA-6 will only bring system updates. Of course porters can add some fixes and tweaking but it has to be on their radar as device specific issue don't get fixes magically.Some magic can happen when drivers are updated when using a newer halium version, but it can also be the other way around so it's rarely done as far as I can see.

@AppLee Hello,
Thanks for your reply, I own Google Pixel 3a XL and 20.04 OS version.
We shall see what tweaks and improvements coming in the near future.
Apart from that, I hope developers and porters will come up with a big tweak or figure out how to reduce battery consumption on our devices using UT OS.
Cause battery is draining faster than using it on Android OS. Even though do not use internet only calling and texting.
Do not know what seems to be juicing out the battery.

@Salah
No issues for me as well on the P3a for the vibration.
Concerning the battery drain issue, meanwhile you can give a try with "battery-saver" app if you can still be on 2G, It only avoid having to switch to 2G manually when no cellular data connexion is needed. LTE drains 7 to 10% per hour for me.
Less than 3% while on 2G -
@Salah i know that this thread is about pixel, but on xiaomi note 9 pro (miatoll) is vibrator also malfunctioning, i belive since upgrading from 16.04

@uxes This is related to this tread that I just updated a few minutes ago:
https://forums.ubports.com/topic/9919/vibration-issue/16
Maybe @beyolf has some news...?
Indeed, the issue is not related to UBports but seems to affect some Curtana series, so I guess it's not easy for the porter to correctly identify the source of the problem.

@lduboeuf Thanks for your response.
I would like to share my experience with you and our friends in the Forum.
Yesterday I have to decided to do a small test just to know why battery is decreasing so quick. What I did is that I have chosen Cellular 2G instead of 2G/3G/4G, and kept monitoring the device. It seems that did not decrease quickly, very slow decrease.
Just to keep you on the picture, I only use it for calling and texting, not surfing the net, only open the net from time to time for updates.
Before I go to sleep I put it on Offline Mode.
So my suggestion that developers manage to enhance battery consumption while using 3G/4G networks cause I really do not have a clue when the country will shutdown 2G network.

@stanwood Thanks for the Tip,
I think I am going to do a fresh install to version 20.04 instead of upgrading from 16.04 to 20.04.
