is it possible to somehow have SIM tools app to switch roaming?
-
Hi,
my network operator require to switch roaming manually and my Ubuntu Touch does not have such app (like it is in Android) that can allow me to switch it.
Only thing I am left of when crossing the border is pull SIM card out, put it in some Android device, switch roaming, pull the SIM card out again and put it back to my phone.
Any advice what can be done is appreciated.

Hi @readyblue
In the drop down menu, you can select "Cellular settings..."
The second swith is "Data Roaming"Is it what you were looking for?
After crossing a border I noticed recently that I need to reboot the phone because switching to flight mode and back is not working for me. -
@AppLee nope. I know about Data Roaming, but that does not work. I have to manually switch roaming on my provider, so my SIM will be allowed to connect.
If I do not switch roaming on my provider, which is only possible by "SIM tools" app, my phone just say "denied" as network and there is no way to do anything with network at all. I have tried everything, believe me.
Android does have this "SIM tools" app which will show once you are connected to network which allows you to switch to:
- roaming abroad
- without roaming
-
That's weird.
But if this is an android app made for your provider then I guess you can try with Waydroid.I don't understand what this "manual switch" is about that would be different from the roaming switch we have in the settings.

@AppLee no, this is common Android app that is not for any particular provider. It is for general use
Also tried Waydroid, the app does not show up there unfortunately.

I'm sorry @readyblue
But it sounds to be an issue related to your specific provider.
People in your area might help on that, maybe you can join a local group on Telegram and see if others have the same issue and if they found a workaround. -
@AppLee yes, you are right, however on every Android this is possible via "SIM Tool" app, so I wander if something like that is planed for Ubuntu Touch?
Perhaps porting "SIM Tools" app?
