Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.0 Beta 1 is now available for testing

@Vistaus Just follow the instructions as they are written in the OP. I assume it will get you on the RC for 24.04. But I haven't followed them myself, so I don't know for sure. It will get you on the version of 24.04 that was made available for testing in any case.

Thanks, it worked fine - I'm on 24.04 now!

Unfortunately, the bug where the mouse cursor can't reach the right half of the screen in landscape mode still isn't fixed.
Volla said it was fixed in 24.04, in time for delivery of their keyboards with trackpads that are about to ship in the next few weeks. Did that fix not make it in this RC?
-
@Vistaus Not sure where Volla got their information from, but this issue was not on the list of fixed issues for this release.
-
@arubislander Shoot. I hope it does make it before the stable release of 24.04, though, else the Volla Keyboard will not be all that useful, as the trackpad cannot be used. I'll also ask Volla where they submitted the fix.
-
@Vistaus, I agree that the bug is most annoying, but the keyboard will still be very useful. It is not as of the touch screen stops working when a keyboard or a mouse attached.
-
@arubislander True. I meant that I want to use the Volla Tablet as a laptop most of the time, and for that I'd rather have mouse input, but the physical keys will still be very welcomed.

@peat_psuwit rookie question: how do I get from the stable to cc channel?

To change your update channel, go to the Updates page and tap the cog wheel at the right hand top to go to the update settings.

@Moem great! Thank you!

I did the upgrade. It went rather smoothly following the instructions.
Most things seem to still be working with the following exceptions [I'll add to the list as I find issues];sometimes the keyboard for the login password prompt jumps up and down very rapidly. I need to force reboot the phone and then it seems to be OK.
Many apps no longer start.

For the non-strating apps it is best to open an issue about it on the individual issue trackers, which are listed in the Open Store entries for said apps. The app maintainers need to do the work to make their apps compatible with 24.04
-
@peat_psuwit Do you or somebody else know if Teleports is running under noble already?
-
@messayisto I have not had any issues with it thus far.
-
@Vistaus TIL there is indeed such a fix! I am sure we will hear official communication about it if and when it becomes available for testing.
-
@messayisto
It works very well -
@Vlad-Nirky thank you!

Hello!
Many apps no longer run for me (I realize that the app programmers fix this). Dekko2 starts, but does not display the individual messages as soon as you click on them. SMS starts, but and I get messages, but as soon as I open them from the notification bar, they are gone. The history is not displayed either. I can send messages - they also reach my βtest partnersβ, but they are no longer displayed in my history. If a recipient hadn't told me that they had received messages from me, I wouldn't know, because after βsendingβ they have disappeared βwithout a traceβ. I still have the problem that only β2Gβ is possible on my Volla 22 after every restart. I first have to go to the settings and randomly enter the password for the APN. Once this is done, I get LTE. Bluetooth headset no longer works for me - even with old paired devices. Neither my already paired car radio nor my headphones want to connect to my Volla 22. The same applies to my Volla tablet. It's quite liberating when you can't use normally βrestrictedβ devices at all, except for rudimentary browsing and phone calls. Unfortunately I am not a programmer, otherwise I would be happy to support you. So it only works monitarily. Best regards

Hi, The update downloads, but nothing happens when I tap Install > Restart & Install. I'm running 20.04 OTA-10 RC1 on a FP4

@Robipo sometimes it is doing things in the background. I have had the same 'problem' before where I think nothing is happening, I start doing something else and then have the phone reboot while Im doing something else.
