Device does not start after update
-
Hello everyone,
I have an issue.
Yesterday, I wanted to install the latest update of Ubuntu touch on my Volla Phone 23. After installation, an error message appeared (I think it was error code: 256). In any case, I can no longer restart the device; the curled Welcome (“volla”) screen appears and stays there.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do? -
Hello again,
UBports installer worked. There is an option where you can activate ADB mode when you start the phone, somewhere in the boot menu. With this, my phone was recognized automatically by the UBports because this activates something like developer mode.
In case someone reads this: it would be great if the UBports-installer would provide clearer information when to connect the phone with the PC.
In any case, you can mark this thread as solved, thank you very much, your support is much appreciated.

Yesterday I installed the 24.04.01 as OTA on my X23. The subsequent new boot with the volla logo lettering took almost 10 minutes. You have to wait. The duration of the boot process depends on the number of installed programs. I had very few programs. With many it may take 20 minutes if you have not waited for now but interrupted. I don't know where you are now. Good luck!

If you interrupted the normal, but like said @Charly very long process, of first boot, and that now it gets stuck forever, I guess the only solution you have is to reinstall with UBports installer, NOT ticking wiping user data.

Thanks a lot for your kind replies. I rebooted after the error message appeared, but I can't remember exactly what the option was called (probably something like “load current system”).
In any case, I then removed the battery because (apparently) nothing had changed.
I assume that UBports is the best option for me.
