Waydroid / Google Play Store / Google Services
-
Hello,
I am gonna to install Ubuntu Touch, with Waydroid for apps that are not available on Ubuntu Touch yet
It seems that the webpage on waydroid on UT is not up to date (it refers to Amazon play store, that is no longer maintained)I would like to ask :
-
Waydroid offers to be signed, and then to use Google Play Store/services
But I am mainly interested in UT for privacy. If I use Google Services on waydroid, does it access to my data like a ordinary Android ? -
If I don't use Play Store, does "waydroid upgrade" update the apps ?
Thank you for your answers
Best
Thomas

This may not be the answer you were hoping for, but it's certainly simpler. By installing Aurora Store, you can use Google Play without needing to log in and download apps. -

"waydroid upgrade" only upgrades Waydroid (when a new version is available), not the apps installed in Waydroid, no matter if you have Play Store or not.

Since Waydroid is using Linage you can still limit what the apps and services in the Android OS, such as Google Services, can access.
Ive also noticed that both F-droid and Play Store auto updates when Waydroid is running, however
they can lock up when booting Waydroid freshly since they seem to complain about time not being correct.I might be forced to use waydroid since my country have apps I need that only exists on iOS or Android. So this Topic is very relevant for me as in needing setup waydroid and make it a dev device
since Waydroid is not certified ( Waydroid: Google Play Certification )
