"Fatal exception die" after installing an update - HELP!!!

Hello everyone,
This afternoon, my daughter checked the updates and her Oneplus proposed to install Ubuntu 20.04 "version 6" (she had 20.04 OTA9, so I don't know what is this "version 6").
At the end, the installer proposed to relaunch the device and we now have nothing the phone.
I don't know what to do and she goes back to her boarding school tomorrow evening...
Could you help me ? Do you think, I need to reinstall Ubuntu ? Can I save what she had on her phone ?Please, please, help me...

I tried to reboot by pressing switch key and sound key.
I can reach this screen, but no matter which key I press, the device goes back to "fatal exception".
When I plug the device on my computer and I go to the Ubports-installer, the installer cannot recognize the device.
What can I do?

Things to try. Power off the device.

Boot int the bootloader (fastboot mode) and see if the PC recognises the device in a fastboot terminal.

See if it boots into recovery and if it does, wipe cache.

Power off the device and put it on charge and see if it charges up.
You may need to spend cash now if all the above fails.
If it still boots to this Qualcomm CrashDump Mode you may need to replace the battery.
If that fails, it is usually a RAM chip failure, either the chip has failed or it requires a reball/reflow or a replacement and it may be cheaper to get a broken use device or mainboard from Aliexpress and replace it.
From experience, most Qualcomm CrashDumps are due to a weak or low charge battery.

you can try to do the following:- Boot into Ubports recovery, then enter fastboot mode and try to install Ubuntu Touch
- Reflash the original Android version using MSM download tool

I cannot reach the fastboot mode, I only have access to the 2 screens I posted in this discussion.
i am afraid that the problem comes from the smartphone: I saw a forum where users complained about the same problem and they are under android.
This user is in my case (crash after an update) but he is under Android :
Oneplus service system asks for 300€ to change the motherboard...

@Amarurtuuq MSM Download tool is the tool (Windows only) used to flash a stock Android ROM onto this device. If the RAM chip has gone then this isn't worth doing as it can be finicky to get this device into EDL mode (Emergency Download mode) and it will unlikely not work.
To boot into recovery mode, where you can wipe cache, power off the device and hold volume down and power, when the device boots, release the power button, but hold the volume down button until it reaches recovery. If it won't reach recovery, leave it powered off on charge overnight and try again. If that fails it is battery or motherboard.

I can't boot in recovery mode (in fact, I can't even switch off the phone, I am in a closed loop between the 2 screens). -
@Amarurtuuq OK hold the Volume up, Volume down and power together for about 40 seconds, that should turn the device off.
Just for your info, I had the same issue on one of my N100's. Charging it to 100% resolved the issue (for now, it is still working).

I finally reached the fastboot mode.
I used the ubports-installer and wanted to reinstall Ubuntu Touch, but to my surprise, the installer saide that the device is not supported for UT.
How is it possible whereas Ubuntu Touch was installed on this phone before it crashed ?
I am so confused now...

@Amarurtuuq that's normal if you are installing from fastboot. Select your device from the drop down menu.

What do you mean by "drop down menu" ?

However, when I use this menu, the installer says that the OnePlus N100 must be "billie2" and mine seems to be called "bengal" (I don't know why).
I think I will stop for this evening.... I try since 3 hours, I need a pause... and I will let the phone charging. -
@Amarurtuuq Bengal is correct, it is the code name of the SoC (System on Chip) for this device, Billie2
