Upgrading to correct version of Android 10

If I found a Joyeuse device for sale with the original, out of box version of Android 10, can I just upgrade to the specific version needed and save some effort?

If the device is running Android 10, no need to downgrade it.
Maybe, you could push it to the last Android 10 version (Miui 12)
You'll have to unlock bootloader in any way.

@Vlad-Nirky Thanks! Yep, sounds like it's safest to make sure that it's the latest version of android 10, but at least upgrading sounds a bit simpler than downgrading, even if unlocking is a pain with Xiaomi.

@wally Just be aware that if you simply upgrade it from inside the OS you will likely end up upgrading past Android 10.
