I would like to try to encourage work on some apps but I can't fork out huge sums of money so it would be good if the user community could all contribute to raising some funds to pay the bounty.

I thought maybe we could (for the moment) get an idea of who on the forum would be willing to put some money toward a bug bounty?

The details are very very prelim at the moment but it could look something like this:

      • We see how many people can contribute to a round of funding
      • We decide what kind of work we can cover (big bounty, small bounty etc)
      • We submit suggestions for an app/bug and then the contributing members vote on the app/bug
      • We (somehow) send the money to the app maintainer and ask that they please work on these things

For now, I would just ask if you feel your can contribute something toward a bounty, just give me sign that you exist.

          Hi RJDan,

As I understand it, UT is not intended to be just another operating system for smartphones and mobile devices, but rather to guarantee users their own personal device.
This would mean that users themselves are responsible for what happens on and with their devices.

The basis for this is prepared and provided by the UBports Foundation.
The operating system with simple basic apps.
This basis should be largely supported by data protection and the simple, uncomplicated, even trivial use of a mobile device.

This means that the core programmers cannot take care of the apps that the community wants. And actually, we have been lacking more core programmers for a long time, even though this operating system has so many fans.

This means that it is not enough to simply raise money; the programmer or programmers for an app project would also have to be sought and found.
And that will probably be more difficult than raising money.

But very, very few things are impossible.
Therefore, I wish you every success in achieving your heart's desires.

          Greetings
          Mario

Sure, that is true. For now though I just need an idea of how many people would be able/willing to take part.

we could pay the app developer to fix bugs in their app or add features. It does not need to be a new app.

@RJDan What you are thinking of is more of a fundraising drive.
In a typical Big Bounty specific amounts of money are associated to specific bugs or features. Interested parties then apply to solve on of the issues, and when the work is better and accepted, the bounty is awarded.

Our app developers are volunteers. What if they don't have time or simply don't want to do it?

Also owns an Op1, a BQ E4.5 and an Xperia X, as well as a BQ tablet and a Pinetab2. Please, someone... make it stop.

@Moem , then we find someone else or we vote on another issue.

@arubislander , sure. To set up the bounty we would first need to get the funds. This is why I put up the post. I want to see if the community is interested in trialling something like this.

                        @RJDan

provide us with important applications that can be easily installed (one-click in the store), are safe (not random code from a random stranger with a random license), and have all the essential functionalities. I am willing to pay some money, let's say for fully functional Firefox, fully functional MS Teams, Slack, Spotify,... but mainly, they should not be outdated or unupdated, and the microphone, camera, keyboard, and clipboard should work. I know it sounds like a lot, but theoretically, it could just be an integration of Snap/Flatpak into the store.

but that no bug bounty, that is more like fundraising πŸ™‚
