I should have asked for
journalctl --user -e -u mediascanner-2.0.service | cat
did not think about the length of the lines, we don't see all the interesting parts.
About the file type, I tried to add a pdf file and it did not fool the mediaplayer. No problem here.
Edit: I have an error in the service log about the wrong file type for the pdf file like you have (Error when adding new file), but it does not stop the video files to be played. On your phone the video files are not recognized.

Well I have a few null mp4 files (0 byte), created today, because when I try to record a video it does not work and produces and empty file (since the upgrade).

Better to zap all invalid files and see if the valid ones can be played then.

I tried to stuff a .webm file into the imported directory and restarted the service, it produced the same error. Since it seems that the video library is currently unable to play webm files, it seems indeed that the video libs are broken somehow since the mp4 files are not seen as valid (play quite well on my fp5).
Yet you seem to have gstreamer library on your system. No clear idea to go forward and it's a bit late now :-(. "sudo snap install mpv" should give you the ability to play the files but it will not prove anything about the libraries since snap application packages all their libraries and don't use system libraries. -
Could It possibly come from a configuraiton file in my home (in .config or .cache )?
Because if I have flashed the system twice, then the system itself should be 100% verbatim the same of other people running it on VP22 no?

@pparent Another try is to switch to 24.04-1.1 daily (system parameters) to see if it fix or not the issue. And after to go again to stable. Sometimes it works.

Great I have found a solution, I have removed
.cache/gstreamer-1.0/registry.aarch64.binThe rebooted, and I can record a video and view it again!

Even if you checked 'don't erase user data', if a new version can be not compatible with the cached data, the cached data should go (after all, it should not hold any interesting data if it conforms to its name)
