So, I just got my Nexus 4 up and running, but there seems to be no option for a wireless tether.
I have a good data connection with my network. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi @xanthipus. I haven't used it for a while on my N5, but I used to find that sometimes I needed to "refresh" it by flicking flight mode on and off. Also sometimes, I had to go into "settings" rather than just drop down from the notifications menu.

            Hi @3arn0wl,
thanks for getting back to me, it appears to be all good now.
The hotspot toggle switch appeared approximately 3 hours after network activation.
I did run the first two commands from

They seemed to fail, but perhaps a delayed effect?

The hotspot does work now, however, it does not start up consistently. IE seems to need a few toggle cycles to get it to start up. Just wondering, is this a Ubuntu Touch thing or a 5 year old Nexus 4 thing?
Also, is there a way to add a password to the hotspot?

That was my experience too, @xanthipus. I don't know whether it's a phone or an OS issue though.

How often did you toggle the flight mode? I can't get it working on the nexus 4... But it works almost perfect on the pro 5 (using it frequently). I would assume its an 'os issue' but not appearing on all phones... On the pro 5, theres dialogue for setting a password in system settings -> network -> hotspot.

Yeah, sometimes it was quite a fiddle, @hummlbach. I think I did the old turn the phone off and on again when it was particularly stubborn!

It seems that I have to toggle the flight mode most every time I want to use it. Will update if I find a way to password protect it.

Did anybody manage to make any progress on this issue? I also have no hotspot option in system settings on my Nexus 4, now running 16.04 OTA-5. No amount of toggling the flight mode switch makes any difference.
