How to configure Gmail Outgoing Server on Dekko 2 (Incoming works, outgoing crashes)
-
I am running a OnePlus 10 Nord on 24.04-1 (2026-01-17). Dekko 2 works fine for incoming GMail. I get the mail in my inbox. I can see all my IMAP folders. I can read e-mail. However, when I go to reply, it crashes immediately.
My outgoing server setting are - hostname: smtp.gmail.com, Port 465, Username (my google user name that works for IMAP), Password is my App password that works for IMAP. Encryption selection is Force Encryption (SSL/TLS), Authentication is LOGIN. Authenticate from Server Capabilities is turned off. Allow untrusted certificates is turned off.
Any recommendations for configuring outbound server for GMail?

I just tested it on my test setup and it works under 24.04-1.2RC1.
However, it seems that Dekko2 5.2 can get very upset about any error, for example not having
defined correctly the account and having made a mistake in the mail address of the person you want to send to. I made one and as soon as I clicked the mail languishing in Draft, dekko2 crashed indeed.Check everything, once all is correct it should work. Note that I never use 'login' as authentication, always 'plain', and for my gmail account (not under Dekko2) I use port 587 with starttls.

I tried 587 / STARTTLS / PLAIN with no love. I saw that my account was not set up properly, so copied how I have it set up in Thunderbird. No Dekko2 does not crash when I try to send mail. I tried 465 / Force SSL/TLS / LOGIN again.
I must not have my folders configured correctly. When I send a mail from Dekko2 it hits my Outgoing folder, then pops into Drafts. I looked at my Thunderbird application on my desktop and can see the email I sent from my phone sitting in Drafts on my desktop in Thunderbird.
So - the email is going out. But instead of going into Sent and heading off to the right person, it pops into Drafts on both my phone and Thunderbird (so it is in Drafts on my GMail account).
I notice that in Dekko2 Copies and Folders - Outbox Folder is blank. Sent folder is [Gmail]/Sent Mail - and that does put it in my Sent Mail folder on my GMail account - but also puts it in Drafts and it never hits the recipient.
How are your folders set up?
