Problems installing UBports on Oneplus One
-
@advocatux This time I ran the installer with sudo. But also this time the installation got stuck. ADB push gets up to 43%.
Then I get this.
...
debug:
info: ADB push 43%
debug: message=Command failed: adb -P 5038 push "/home/gert/.cache/ubports/pool/ubports-e5cf0885f061c9615931cf863a43f65d8590aa71027315ad71999252ce118868.tar.xz" /cache/recovery/
, stack=Error: Command failed: adb -P 5038 push "/home/gert/.cache/ubports/pool/ubports-e5cf0885f061c9615931cf863a43f65d8590aa71027315ad71999252ce118868.tar.xz" /cache/recovery/
....I saved the complete output of the terminal if you need more.
Thanks a lot! -
@gert-v Hi I know @advocatux is helping you on this but have you tried a different USB cable and /or port. If you have already please ignore this. Its only I was flashing a nexus 5 to 16.04 the other day and it just stuck at the same point twice. Changed the cable and no issue at all, and i'd used that cable without problems many times before.
-
@Lakotaubp All help is appriciated! I did tryanother USB-port, but used the same cable. When I am able to, I will definitely try your solution.
-
@gert-v yes @Lakotaubp is right, I'm seeing a lot of issues with bad usb cables.
If you need to paste a big log, you can use https://paste.ubuntu.com/ and post the link here.
Edit to add: the full installer log is in your computer, you don't need to copy the terminal output

@advocatux @Lakotaubp
Thanks a million to you both. I just finished installing UBports on my Oneplus One. It took me a couple of tries to find a usb-cable that didn't mess things up, but after the third time it succeeded. Time to start exploring!
Gert -
@gert-v congrats !!
-
@gert-v oh, I forgot to ask you, what UT version have you installed?
-
@gert-v Brilliant and welcome to UBports. Have a look at the link below for more interesting stuff to get you started, and enjoy UBports Ubuntu Touch.
As @advocatux asked what version your on remember if it's 16.04 RC it's not perfect yet , but the stable version is not far off. If it's 15.04 that is working perfectly well but is not being developed further but might be a better starting point. Any issues please come back and we will help as much as we can : ) -
@lakotaubp yes, I'm also asking because if he's on vivid he should apply these "flo hacks":
https://forums.ubports.com/topic/1015/howto-opo-fix-mtp-driver-permissions
https://forums.ubports.com/topic/1030/howto-change-the-name-of-your-device-for-bluetooth-pairing -
@advocatux I forgot about those, but while your here so to speak is all of this fixed in 16.04 as far as OPO goes.
-
@lakotaubp yes, those issues should be fixed on xenial.
-
@advocatux Thanks guessed so but better to check ; )
-
@advocatux @Lakotaubp I'm on the 15.04 version of UT at the moment and it is all working fine.
-
@gert-v Then you may want to look at the two "flohacks" @advocatux mentions above. Glad its going well.
-
I will definitely look at the "flohacks" soon, but for the next 5 days I'm not anywhere near my pc.
The tutorials of the hacks seem straightforward enough but when I run into trouble I know where to ask for help -
Hi,
I ´m back again after a short trip and ready to proceed with the ¨flohacks¨. Alas, I do not get far.
I connected the phone to my pc running ubuntu 18.04 by usb cable, but it does not recognize the phone. I ran adb devices in the terminal with several cables and in several usb-ports and it came back with no result. Other usb-devices coupled to my pc on the same ports and with the same cables are recognized, so it´s not the pc I think. Also when I connect the phone to a pc running windows it is not recognized either. Any ideas?By the way, so far I´m very happy with UBports on my phone!
-
@gert-v is developer mode set "on" on your phone?
-
@gert-v I flashed a OPO at the weekend to 16.04 and had to select the device manually and put it into fast boot manually. That was on windows 10 and the installer was 0.1.9(103) beta so they can be a bit tricky.
Are you using the latest version of the installer and or adb tools. Maybe try reinstalling the device drivers. This is very obvious so I apologize in advance developer mode is on -
@advocatux Oops, ehm, no it wasn't... Thanks!
