[SOLVED] No phone network 16.04
-
@thebird Sometimes I had to switch on the Flight mode to get network back, so this is a bug I guess. It's happening right after I finish a call. Just no network and unable to receive or make a call at all. Now it's happening more often and takes longer to get back the network. Also on dual sim cards phones, the network manager can't make its mind which network to use, even when setting set to certain network as preferred. Never happened on 15.04. And if did, it was only for like a 1-2 seconds. Anyone filled the bug report on this??? Or, should I do it?
-
@stefano Please go ahead had a quick look #829 is closest but not the same. Double check I haven't missed it already being reported
-
@thebird also me with my OPO have the same issue
-
@lakotaubp yeah, closest one, but not the same, probably unrelated.
-
@stefano Ok then go ahead and report that bug.

Hi I am new to the forum and I have been having the same issue here on 16.04 stable with my nexus 5. It seems to always lose mobile cellular connection all the time. When I enter a car, go to the first floor of my house, etc.
It seems to only maintain connection in some areas like 2nd floor of my house. WiFi works perfectly.
-For info it doesn't lose connection on android and I have moved the sim to other phones and it works perfectly. Also I have personally restored this nexus 5 and cellular network is T mobile
Just wondering if anybody else has these issues.
-
@that_rin Yes, on mine N5 is the same, weak signal or loosing it.
It depends on carrier and/modem/radio firmware. I've had such an issue on 15.04 as well, so it's not because of rebase to 16.04.
I think N5 has some flaws in design from beginning. (battery life, power buttons, loosing mobile connection, wifi issues)
But on the other hand, it's not so terrible with the network, yes, it could be better, but it's manageble. -
@that_rin This may help if you didn't have the latest Android firmware on the nexus when you moved to UBports https://forums.ubports.com/topic/815/howto-n5-update-baseband-firmware
-
@lakotaubp I had the latest Google firmware and also was on Lineage before, but still had the issues with wifi and modem
-
@lakotaubp I have also done that tutorial also got solid connection for about 10 minutes then same issue then proceeds to lose connection.
Dont really know what it could be.

@that_rin This is more for info than a fix https://forums.ubports.com/topic/1689/issues-with-wifi-and-phone-keypad-on-e4-5-stable-channel-solved/10 it will give you an insight to the issue have a read through.

@lakotaubp Read it. I don't really have any wifi issues. Mostly just celluar issues. Its always disconnecting where ever I go. Works beautifully only in select areas like my university outside. When I enter a building or my car its completely gone. My other phone works indoors and everywhere.
Sorry if I seem like I am complaining. Love the phone os Just wondering if others have this same issue it if its just me.

Your problem is not the problem this topic is about. The topic is not about losing signal in some area, but after ending a phone call. You'll see 'no network' in the phone app. The signal indecator looks just fine.
Perhaps you should start a new topic with the subject weak signal in some areas.

Same here with BQ Aquaris E4.5. It started after upgrade to 16.04.

The problem seems much less apparent when disabling screen rotate. I cannot imagine how could one enable phone application to rorate. But I want other applications to rotate. It would be best if this is per application setting.

@mihael Hello, thanks for the link. It is working perfectly. Unfortunately, it seems the impact is not so big, if any. There was probably some other cause of temporary less apparent problem appearence.
