Ubuntu Touch on Sony Xperia X
-
@chriswyatt Thanks for testing! I've noticed audio to be flaky as well and I assumed it had to do with not-yet-committed changes. Luckily that's not the case, so that's good for finding the bug.
Currently calling doesn't work for any Halium 7.1 based port using the default ofono shipped in Ubuntu Touch, so it might take some time until calling is fully fleshed out.
I've found a fix for the screen sometimes taking seconds to turn on, which is what I'll incorporate soon. In addition to sound I'll also take another look at the camera.
-
@beidl I also noticed the issue with the screen sometimes taking a long time to come on. I impatiently press the button lots, and the screen flashes on and off several times about 30 seconds later. It's almost exactly the same behaviour I was getting with my Nexus 7 (running LineageOS). Anyway, it doesn't look like it's far from being in a state where I can use it as an actual phone, so I look forward to the updates, particular around sound and calling. Thanks for all the hard work on this.
I used to be a software tester, so I'd be happy to help test (e.g. go through a checklist, or anything like that).

@chriswyatt if you're interested not only on UT Porting but on UT beta-testing in general too, you might be interested in joining the QA & Testing group

@advocatux Thanks. I've joined both as a lurker for now. EDIT: Ah, bridged. I see what you mean now.

@chriswyatt a software tester with the skills to build an image alone is highly appreciated I'll update the thread in case of new developments.

I've prepared a new image to test with working Audio.
Same installation instructions apply, you need halium-install to flash the current rootfs.
-
Sir can you share installation instruction.
-
-
Calling now works (with caveats). For the time being you need a test version of telepathy-ofono on your device to enable calling:
sudo ubports-qa install xenial_-_haliumfixup
-
@beidl Great work. Is having to run the command the only caveat (that you're aware of)?
-
@chriswyatt when unplugging headphones during a call it switches the output to speakerphones. Generally the headset detection is something I'd like to fix next.
-
@beidl great work beidl, i'm looking forward to this port reaching full maturity!
-
I'll release a new version of the images with functional hardware-accelerated video decoding & partial camera support (no videos, no flash) soon.EDIT: New version now available here: https://forums.ubports.com/post/14061
I'd also like to know how many have tried the images on their device. May I ask you to raise your hands quickly?

Hey, Just flashed this to my xperia x but it now does not recognize the sim card. It just states that it's unknown with a sim card in it. This post says that calling isnt working on any halium 7.1 based device. But the devices post says that calling does work? Anyone else have this problem?
-
@ehkad please follow the updated instructions here to flash the device, the old halium-install method is not supported anymore: https://forums.ubports.com/topic/3229/sony-xperia-x-suzu-f5121
-
@fredldotme this is exactly what I used but it wont recognize the network.
-
@ehkad Maybe your APN settings are missing, that's the only hint I can come up with currently. Or try a different SIM card just to verify it's an issue with that SIM.
-
@fredldotme so I tried messing with apns but I can't get it to add koodo. The sim works in my android phone still. And it worked in the xperia when it had android. Now i feel dumb. But would using an 5122 be enough to break this?
-
@ehkad Are you saying you are using this on an F5122 even though the title explicitly says it's for F5121?
