What is Ubuntu Touch's target audience?

Marius recently mentioned the possibility of supporting Debian and other OSes in the future. Recognizing that would be a very long-term effort, I'm less interested in how or when this would happen than a more immediate concern, namely should we be evangelizing the brand, UBPorts, instead of OS, Ubuntu Touch?

I'm very interested in spreading the word that there is an up and coming alternative to the A/A duopoly, and I've shown Ubuntu Touch to a number of people. I tend to talk to people about "Ubuntu Touch," since many people have heard of Ubuntu and some even know of Ubuntu Touch (though most who have believe it to be dead). If the long-term future of UBPorts is broader than Ubuntu alone however, perhaps I should be starting from scratch and introducing people to UBPorts first, then explaining that it was started by Canonical and based on Ubuntu, rather than speaking about Ubuntu Touch and then explaining that it's developed by UBPorts now?

Or is the entire subject simply putting cart before horse? ☺ If so, please feel free to disregard the question. It would be useful to know though - regardless of this question - how the team would like us to speak about the OS.

I have a large music collection saved to a microSDXC card that I would like to play in UT's music app. My Nexus 5 running UT (OTA 8 ) is not capable of reading cards formatted in exFAT. Is there a workaround for this?

How has the collaboration been between UBports and Purism been going? Any news if they will be making Librem One apps available in OpenStore?

Is there anyway to enable 'grid style locking' in Desktop 'windowed' mode? front.png
I like this custom setup, but it was tedious to size all the windows just right for each app. 3.png

exFAT is proprietary, and not something we can support by default due to licensing. The workaround is to change your SD card to use FAT32 instead. Unless you need to store files on it that are larger than 4GB, it will be fine.

No, there is no support for iOS/Android style multitasking.

                      two questions

                      1. with the arrival of "open" smartphone like Pinephone or Librem5 we will see the arrival of UT image without Halium or an Android compatibility . Where can we found useful informations/porting guides about porting UT (or other OS if the procedure is similar) on "open" hardware/ARM Board?

                      2. given that make UT installable on very diffuse ARM Boards (like RaspberryPi) could massively enlarge the number of potential tester and developers (useful also for the smartphone/tablet side), why the port on those ARM Boards is not one of the priorities for UBports? (no criticism intended just curiosity)

@Aury88 but it is, didn't you watch the latest Q&As 😉

The problem, as usual, is the lack of volunteers / manpower of course 🙂

@advocatux sorry, but I'm having some problem with the internet connection and I could not see the latest Q&A video so I'm waiting for the summary. Not having heard anything about the UT port on some open ARM board in the other Q&A it seemed to me that it was not on the UBP agenda
