      Hi.

My FP2 came with Android 7.1.2 (Nougat). I launched the UBports installer and have enabled Developer mode and USB debugging. However I don't see an OEM unlock option anywhere.

      Thanks.

        @Opolork you don't need that for the FP2 (https://forum.fairphone.com/t/bootloop-mode-not-a-option/49404/6)

The installer asks me to reboot to the bootloader. However pressing and holding down the Power & Volume Down Up buttons is not doing anything. 🤔
Must I power off and then do press and hold those key combos?

Do I need to install the packages adb fastboot in Debian?

I'm not sure if this is only an Android feature on the FP2 but if hold down the power button, then tap and hold 'power off/reboot' on screen to get option to reboot into safe mode - is this the same as rebooting to the bootloader?

I reboot and it says Fairphone and underneath 'Powered by Ubuntu' but I'm still on Android. 🤔

I'm now in Team Win Recovery Project - do I just select Install?

              Yes, these are required.

If you are in recovery mode, you should be able to run adb reboot bootloader on your PC to put the phone in fastboot mode.

                  Installed! ☺

I will post the steps later. Too tired now. Good night all.

The UBports installer didn't mention that I needed to install the packages adb & fastboot. Also, I think it'd be better to have something like Step 1 of X in the installer - not essential but a nice touch (pun intended). 😉
The rebooting part was finicky (perhaps more to do with FP2?). The part 'Please reboot to bootloader' says hold down volume down and power buttons. The next step, 'Please reboot to recovery' says hold down volume up and power buttons. I didn't know the phone needed to be off for these combos to work - I think it should say so in the installer.

The installer was very fast and smooth otherwise. 👍🏻 👌🏻

Hi dobey. What's the difference between recover mode and fastboot mode?

In recovery the kernel is up and adb is available. In fastboot it is only the bootloader, and adb will not work.

Think of fastboot like the BIOS stage of booting a PC.

I never had to switch off my FP2 for those button combinations to work.

How long did you press the buttons? If I remember correctly it feels like ages until the reboots to the respective mode happen.

Hi @Ingo - Hmm, so maybe they work regardless whether the phone is on or off. I think I had them held down for more than a few seconds anyway. 🤔
