Sony Xperia X (suzu/F5121 & F5122)
-
@makeixo Yes
-
@makeixo I tested the gps with unav and pure maps, it works very well. The only thing missing is the flashlight.
-
@Giampy ok, thanks. On mine it didnt work with puremaps yesterday. Maybe it helps if I change the channel from edge to devel.
-
@Nikfrager Nice! I didn't know that Ubports has found someone, who took the port over.
-
Ok. I have seen its already on devel. Is this the right one? I don't have any ideas why there 4 devel channels.
The Version I have installed is 201, but on mine gps doesn't work.
-
Regarding maintenance of the port: I'm still working on it as the community found a way to finance development for a short period of time.
Regarding GPS: do you have a SIM inserted? Usually a location fix comes faster with a SIM card inserted.
Regarding other channels: don't let the selection fool you, there is no way to switch to a different channel. Also we don't quite know yet why it's showing multiple devel channels.

Ah ok. I didn't know that. I have sent you some as well. Thanks for all the work you have done!

I insert one now but in puremaps it doesn't find the location. I will try it on the weekend another time. Maybe he just need some time.

Ok. I haven't tried it. I didn't want to break something
Anyone has tried to install Anbox yet?

And now, there is the flashlight that work fine. Is there an international group on telegram for UT on Xperia X?
-
@Giampy I dont have telegram.
-
@Giampy There's a German-speaking one, no international (yet)

Re: Sony Xperia X (suzu/F5121)
I bought a Sony Xperia X to use with UBports. I upgraded the device to the latest Android 8 version but i am still not able to unlock the bootloader.
Bootloader allowed says Yes.
fastboot devices says that it recognise the device
fastboot oem unlock 0x..... says: FAILED (remote: 'unknown command')
fastboot getvar all shows up: bootloader secure: yesI am stuck for know. I can't use the EMMA tool also because EMMA says that the device is locked.
Can someone please give me a hint?
Thanks in advance.

@rjb Hi, Can I ask why you have posted the same thing in two places? It will not get an answer quicker (as it will be the same people answering). Also it makes it confusing for other trying to find answers in the future.
Can I ask you to please remove one of the posts. May I suggest it's the other one. Thank you. -
@rjb Thank you. Lets hope you get an answer soon.
-
@Lakotaubp Sorry for that. I deleted the other post.
At the moment i did a successfull unlock. From Linux it works. :-)))))))) -
@rjb Than thats even better. The rest is easy, so they say

Ok, GPS does not work on my Xx.
Does anyone have the same issue? Do you think that reflashing could solve the issue?
@Giampy: Flashlight works fine on my Xx, too
Regarding the funding of the port. Maybe UBports or @fredldotme should give a recommendation how much someone, who wants to use the port, should donate. I know paying for stuff in foss world is always a difficult topic, but maybe that would help to generate some more donations. Furthermore, it would make it easier for people like me, who don't have any clue how much would be a fair amount. Is it 10β¬? 30β¬? 50β¬? Or even more? I don't know.
At the end it's not that different what Jolla does. If I want to use an official port from Jolla, then I have to pay 50 β¬. If the phone breaks, then I have to spend another 50 β¬.
-
@rjb I don't remember the issue I had when I was flashing my Xx but I ended up in linux as well. Maybe it was some driver incompatibility. On linux it is just 10 times easier.

Said me how to donate!

@makeixo Thanks for bringing that up. The problem is probably that it depends on the user what it's worth for him/her. I can't deny being happy about bigger donations but it all depends on what you feel it's worth it to have the port of a GNU/Linux distribution on the Xperia X.
@Giampy For more information about donations please head over to https://fredl.me/donate

Another new Ubports-on-XperiaX user here - thanks a lot for the port, @fredldotme ! My first impression: Still some crashes, but in general seems to work very fine. So happy about finally getting off my BQ Aquarius E4.5 which started to show serious signs of decay...
My questions:
- Any way of donating money to you without using Paypal? I would love to donate on Liberapay, but I do not want to use Paypal. I suppose setting up a Stripe account is too much hassle?
- Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere: How do OS updates work for an install following the instructions at the top of this thread? Will they arrive automatically, like OTAs on stable channel?
