Can BQ M10 be connected to an external display?
-
Hi everyone,
I've recently installed 16.04 on my BQ M10 HD and I'd like to use an external display. I've connected the device to the TV with an adapter (HDMI) and the external screen setting is enabled but it doesn't appear to work. Do I need to do anything else?
Thank you!

@Angela_92 Hi,
Never tried it myself, but I read in another thread that in "Devel" a reboot of Unity8 was required.
But I guess it should work in "Stable".Try the reboot of unity if no one reply with a better knowledge.

I have tried it with the cable that came with the device, no luck just get a dark screen ( vizio tv).and Chuwi laptop
I have just reinstalled,so will retry,any good and i will,let you knowWireless display works, on my m10fhd
Just a thought,that hdmi connector needs a firm push to fully engage / click in

I have the same problem.. hard to say why...

Try with mouse plugged up ?

I've done it successfully with a hdmi cable on my M10FHD.

@Angela_92 From memory, I've connected my M10 HD OTA 11 Stable to my Panasonic TV with an HDMI cable. The tablet touchscreen worked to control what was mirrored on the TV.
I had to configure the TV to select the HDMI input connector I was plugged in to. (This was easy to get wrong.)
The significant problem I had was lack of audio. The sound continued to come from the tablet speakers. Apparently this was a known deficiency of UT HDMI implementation.
Good luck.

@dtarrant Did you just configure the TV and connected the HDMI cable? I did that but I got no response and all, so I thought something else was required to be done in the device, apart from the external screen bit.

@Marathon2422 I can't. There isn't enough space for both the HDMI adapter and the USB adapter to be plugged in at the same time...

I think I connected the HDMI cable, turned the tablet on and when nothing happened, I changed the HDMI setting on the TV. My TV has 3 HDMI ports and it's easy to mistake which connector you have plugged in to. So I left the cable where it was and just selected HDMI 1, 2 and 3 in succession until I found the one that worked. -
@Angela_92 ,trim a bit off the edge, I had to switch cables, some one in an office with a shiny butt designed that part.

One further thought:
The BQ M10 HDMI out port is the one next to the charging port.
I use my old Blackberry Playbook HDMI cable to connect my M10 to the TV.
I don't remember if my M10 was supplied with an HDMI cable.
-
@dtarrant It's just an HDMI port in my TV.
-
@Marathon2422 I'll try to get another HDMI adapter.

I suggest you get a Blackberry Playbook HDMI cable. Available on ebay at modest cost. Has a micro HDMI connector which plugs into the M10 and a standard HDMI connector which plugs into the TV. I'm wary of the type that have several conectors hanging off one end.

@Angela_92
Probably the best move ( it would be a pain to damage something there) -
@dtarrant The cable finally arrived and I just tried... but nothing happened. I've connected it to the TV HDMI input (it works with other devices, so the issue is not here) and I properly selected the input with the remote, but nothing. Is there anything I have to do in my device, other than enabling the external display?

@Angela_92 have you been in settings to tried the desktop mode switch , then about device, and brightness/display, and external display switch ,, ( guess you`ve worn them out by now ) and will it help, mouse and or keyboard plugged up.
