Adding hard switches to a phone.
-
Just curious, has the idea of adding physical hard switches to a phone ever been tossed around for added security? It seems that if someone could install physical switches that are capable of interrupting the circuit to the microphone, camera etc, the phone would have a guaranteed level of privacy regardless of the software it may or may not have.

Awesome, this is just what I have been looking for.
Apparently it has "HW switches: LTE/GNSS, WiFi, Microphone, Speaker, Cameras "
How stable is UT expected to be on the PinePhone compared to the nexus 5, OPO, etc? Also where are they located at?

@Edward-Wilhelm Not quite there yet, but rapid progress. By the time the next batch ships, it could very well be stable. Still some significant problems at the moment. Look at their forum for details.
About them:. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_Microsystems
I am a fan of what they are doing and can't wait for the Pinetab.
