I am on the stable channel with my FP2 and want to change to the devel cannel. In the wiki I found the channels page and I tried unsuccesfully several times to switch channel on my FP2 using the command "sudo system-image-cli --switch 15.04/devel" from the terminal app on my device
So two questions are arising for me

      1. Do I make something wrong?
      2. Should or can I execute the command from adb shell

@Bastos I had the same problem with my pro5,trying to get from stable to RC, I wiped it and started again by changing the address in the download info

Looks like the confinement on the terminal prevents it from doing useful things like switching channels. I've updated the documentation to present a couple of known working methods.

@UniSuperBox I've done it a couple of times with the terminal app installed from the Openstore. Sometimes I get the "Exception..." message when I don't have Internet connectivity.

@UniSuperBox Thanks for doing that, had to remember to put my pro5 in developer mode, and reboot while connected to my PC to get the window to authorize adb access,to come on the device. Thanks again.

                Success !
After backing up the data with the magic device tool, I switched channel by using the following command in the terminal on my ubuntu 16.04 desktop computer from the wiki:
                sudo ubuntu-device-flash --server=http://system-image.ubports.com touch --channel=15.04/rc
No data lost, everything is still there and active.
                Thanks @UniSuperBox et. al.

I changed from stable to devel the same way I changed from canonical to ubports: using https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer - it didn't loose any data.

                    I changed mine from recovery just with :sudo ubuntu-device-flash --server=http://system-image.ubports.com --device=turbo --channel=15.04/devel

                    Meizu Pro 5
all data and settings intact 🙂
