Hello,
I am trying to install UBPorts to a Nexus 5 phone, but I am stuck at the Formatting cache step. The image below illustrates the phase in which I am stuck:
I have tried 3 different cables and all of the USB ports in the computer, but I keep getting the same error.
At this phase, the phone shows the "UBports Recovery" screen.
I navigated to the "Android actions," and I after I clicked the "Wipe cache partition" I see the errors shown by the picture below:
I am trying to install UBPorts using Fedora 30
What can I do to finish the installation process?
Also, what would happen if from the Android Actions I "Wipe media"?
Thank you

@u20200526 Not an issue go ahead and try and clear cache. If you can try the snap version of the installer. One thing if you have altered the partition sizes at any point they will need putting back to standard before you can install Ubuntu Touch.

@Lakotaubp I am not experienced with phones, so I don't know what you mean with "Not an issue go ahead and try and clear cache." As I said, with the Android actions I COULD NOT wipe it b/c I got the errors I illustrated, and therefore, I cannot clear the cache (of the phone).
Could you guide me step by step on what I can do to continue with the installation to success?
How would I try the snap version of the installer? or could you point to the documentation where this is described?
I think I have not altered the partition sizes, but if you direct me, I can put them back (just in case and so I cover all my basis).
Thank you

@u20200526 Snap installer instructions here https://github.com/ubports/ubports-installer/releases you might have to install snapd on Fedeora first before you can install snaps. A quick web search should help.
You can also ask here https://t.me/WelcomePlus or Telegram install group. They should be available now. I will be back tomorrow morning, sorry but need to go for now early start. -
@u20200526 This thread has some useful tips in it:
-
@Lakotaubp Snap was installed as a dependency of the UBPorts Fedora application
-
@rocket2nfinity The phone I bought just for this purpose, is definitely a Nexus 5, not a Nexus 5x

Well, I'm checking out. Looks like this is not baked. I will check in next year. Thank you guys

@u20200526 I think you misunderstand - The title says Nexus5X vs Nexus 5, but if you read the thread, it's all about how to install on a Nexus 5. Has some handy tools near the end of the thread.

I would check if there was any dirt in the usb port on the phone. There has been reports on very strange behavoir during installation that was caused by dirt in the usb port.
