Privileged ICE contacts and medical information available on lockscreen [WORK IN PROGRESS]
-
@Moem
I agree with Florian, that the best option is to modify the lock screen.But as a workaround if it's faster to go with the dropdown menu, I suggest a simple white over black symbol.
Letters, snake and staff will be too small to identify, so a simple cross-of-life will work.As the dropdown menu loads a full page, it's doable to add a bigger logo with clearly stated "In Case of Emergency".
-
I don't know if I stepped on someones toes here but I just sent an email to EMS and asked them if they where interested in making a new symbol for ICE on mobile phones.
-
I take a few minutes to answer you because I receive notification number: D
So I repeat my idea is to actually add a button to the lockscreen (it's doable but requires a little hack of it ...)
I will also change the icons, the main one will remain white for ergonomic reasons but it will be positioned first!Unfortunately I haven't had the time to take a look since my publication, I have a lot of work at the moment sorry.
On the other hand if someone knows the python he can possibly contribute ... -

Yes, that change involves hacking into Lomiri quite a bit, but it is not that complicated. And then add it to the system settings for configuration.
The core team that asks for system hack
-
@Flohack the welcome screen has to be broken to implement notifications on the lock screen anyways, so why not implement it as an optional “always on” notification and kill 2 stones in one?
-
@PhoenixLandPirat Notifications on the lock screen? Not sure I can follow ^^

Hi
I have talked to the manager for the paramedics in my town today. He was very positive to the ICE contact integration on our operating system and that we was so devoted to have an unified icon for it. But the only suggestion he had was the “Star of Life”. So I will post here again when or if I get a response from EMS/NHTSA. -
The ICE app requires all permissions. Currently I don't see the need for that since the users fill out their information manually.
It could be due to the fact that the app is using the top bar that requires all permissions, if so a heads up in the app description would be helpful. Needless to say that if this app is to become/considered to be amongst future default apps in UT, AppArmor confined status is required, hopefully you'll be able to achieve just that in the foreseeable future.
Looking forward to seeing some development, quite a few users have shown their commitment to think along to make this app a success.

It would be nice to have that response from EMS/NHTSA to get a definite idea of how it should be designed best so we can get to a consensus and move forward 'molding' the app for @syper to have an easier implementation of a well thought out format.

@3T_Ed Trust me i'm checking the mail more frequently than I did before, For the moment I have only received an automated answer saying that they have forwarded the mail to the appropriate department and a phone number if I had more questions...

No doubt about that ( bureaucracy....), I was just touching base and a bit curious to know. Bumping the thread won't hurt either hihi

@BigB
The brackets in the header of the OP, can they be removed now? Request/solved does not apply here imo.Or better have it replaced by [work in progress]
-
@3T_Ed sure

For further improvements please find below screenshots from Lifeguard ICE app. They show front and back end of the app. It allows the user to note what they want (privacy) and have all the information at the same screen, the additional information is displayed by swiping the middle section only.
Hope this will help us getting a better idea and inspiration to complete the app.
PS.
It's quite a lot of screenshot and frankly I have no idea to make thumbnails so I made a quick collage of both front and back end screenshots. -
Edit: Added two collages, bit messy but you'll get the picture
-
@3T_Ed Can you post them on Imgur or similar, and post a link? I currently cannot see them at all.
-
@Moem
Edited the original post. Thanks for the suggestions -
Wow, this is getting very good.
Can you explain why height, eye colour and hair colour are relevant? I can see why weight is relevant, because it has a correlation with how certain medications should be dosed.
Is it for purposes of identification in extreme cases? -
@3T_Ed Looks awesome mate! Hats off!
-
Hey guys, the screenshots are from the Windows 10 mobile app I used. I am not a developer, so the only way for me to help getting this ICE feature The collages have been posted here to give you an idea and have it available for discussion so that @syper will have a relative good idea for the final version, reducing the time for him to spend on details.
Re hair and eye color, I really wouldn't know other than a way for emergency services and bystanders to identify the one in need for help corresponds with the owner of the phone and his ICE data
